The third and final season of Letters from Camp is finally here, as new adventures and mysteries culminate in a poignant finale. Jamie Lee Curtis, who co-created, produced, and stars in the series written by Boco Haft, sat down to answer some of our burning questions about Mookie Hooper’s last summer at Camp Cartwright.

What’s the best way to choose voice actors for the characters to make sure they’re a great fit?

The creative team was very lucky that every actor that we thought of agreed to voice characters for us. Everybody brought their own unique skills, and it has been one of the great pleasures of the show to listen to these wonderful actors give voice to these beautifully written characters.

Did you draw from personal camp experiences in bringing the world of Camp Cartwright to life?

Although I am a co-creator and, along with my partner Russell Goldman, helped produce the show, the entire show was written by Boco Haft. She has a remarkable gift for reminiscence and nostalgia, and the sound of teenagers and the way they talk. The entire success of the show is due to her writing. Of course, all of us had camp experiences that we shared and offered up as possible story ideas, but really the show is a success because of Boco.

“This final summer at Camp Cartwright is incredibly poignant and emotional. Big secrets are revealed, and all of us involved in the show were sobbing by the last day of recording.”

This is the third and final season of Letters from Camp, bringing us to the end of Mookie’s story (and a big, heart-wrenching reveal). Without going into spoilers, how has she grown over three summers at Camp Cartwright?

The end of this final season, this final summer at Camp Cartwright, is incredibly poignant and emotional. Big secrets are revealed, and all of us involved in the show were sobbing by the last day of recording. Being a teenager is difficult. Being a kid is difficult, as we’ve all just experienced. How we navigate big, emotional, life-changing events reminds us all of the resilience and strength of young people and their incredible bravery and fortitude. The end of the show has been planned from the beginning, and I couldn't be prouder of the story we told.
