Ramona. Henry. Otis, Ellen, or Ralph. Surely you had your favorite Beverly Cleary character; the boy, girl, or mouse with whom you identified, whose stories helped you cut your teeth on your reading life.

Ms. Cleary is turning 102 (yes!), and we at Audible are all aflutter. “I’ve always loved Ralph S. Mouse and his motorcycle!” says Social Media Manager Robyn T. Fink. “The Wi-Fi at my house is named ‘Ralph S. Wireless.’” Elicia Gaston in Customer Care says, “I always felt the spirit of Ramona Quimby was eerily similar to my own, as a kid. Not quite boastful, but confident that I was the greatest; everyone just hadn’t caught up to me yet.” Our Business Development Director Pam Promer agrees: “Ramona was magical; she was curious, fearless, and constantly getting into scrapes. I wanted to be her (without the older sister, of course).”

I, myself, fashioned my grade-school tomboy avatar from the mischievous Otis Spofford—his antics as the front half of the bull in the school’s matador show made me laugh so hard I was sent out of the classroom. Otis would be proud.

Take some time to relive your own childhood with this excerpt from Henry and Ribsy, narrated by the pitch-perfect Neil Patrick Harris. Happy birthday, Bev.
