Vincent Dodd was born and raised in the marsh lands of Southeastern Louisiana. After graduating from Nursing School in 1985, he entered what he calls his “nursing residency,” by working for four years in the emergency department at Charity Hospital, in downtown New Orleans. During those years he worked closely with LSU and Tulane residents and highly experienced nurses who every chance they had would all teach each other. 
Vincent knew from an early age that his heart was driven and filled by his love of knowledge and service to others. He spent nineteen of his twenty-one years working in teaching hospital emergency departments, with a few years of intensive care experience. He left nursing to enter a thirteen-year career in law enforcement. In college he considered law enforcement in college but never regretted his nursing years. Going into law enforcement was partially to answer his lifelong curiosity, but more to study the field from the inside out. He uses all thirty-three of front-line public service to write and speak from a human behavior and solution-based viewpoint. Due to his years in teaching hospitals, his desire to seek the origin of a problem, rather than placing a surface bandage on the issue, has helped him study many of the causes of our issues related to our humanness. 
Vincent has seen that the changes in social structure and personal views lead us to believe we no longer need each other. That falsehood can lead to a false sense of total independence from others. He has a passion to help slow down our increasingly fragmented society, family, work, and relationships. That crumbling of those support systems, which has helped hold us together since our beginning, leads to increased core stress on individuals. He sees the proof of these falling building blocks on us as individuals can be seen in our escalating numbers of depression, anxiety, addictions, suicide attempts, and suicides.  
Vincent Dodd’s first book, Our Dying, Our Death, Our Grief, was written on exiting his nursing career. It not only decreases our fears and questions about the dark subject that we prefer to look away from, but it is also empowering to work with the healthcare system. His second book, Our Life, Our Work, Our Humanness, helps our life, work, and relationships to be more self-guided and less stressful. Our Politics, Our Power, Our Peace, is not a book about countries or political parties, but rather about our life, political power, and sanity.
