In 1997 Tom Keith began to have serious concern for America and the direction the country was going, both morally and economically. He had written many articles to alert fellow citizens of the dangerous trends he observed, but with limited success. Then, a friend suggested, "People don't want to hear facts. They want to hear a story." Tom could relate to that because he had always loved telling stories, especially bedtime stories to his kids. So he began work on Bloodrose. Before he could make much progress on the novel, Tom and his wife Jo were awarded guardianship and custody of their two great-grandsons. Austin and Jeremy were 4 years and 1 year old respectively. Taking care of the boys was first priority, and work on Bloodrose was put aside. Because of the trauma Austin had suffered, he was afraid of the dark and afraid to be alone, especially at bedtime. Tom started telling him stories to soothe him, and to teach good moral lessons. Austin would often say, "Tell me a story about animals that can talk." That is how the stories in Fable Forest Tales originated. After several years, Tom was able to resume work on his novel. It was even more a labor of love because he wanted Austin and Jeremy to live in a land of freedom and opportunity. In 2011 Bloodrose was finally published. Now you can enjoy heart-pounding excitement and page-turning suspense as the characters in Bloodrose struggle to survive the most perilous of times. Along the way they find love in the midst of hate, friendship in a time of betrayal, and hope rising out of despair. The setting for Bloodrose is America in the not-too-distant future. The characters are fictional. The events could happen. Pray they don't!
