I started a business, to make a good living, put my family first and do something I felt was important... to "clean up the planet one bag a time," by getting people to kick the single-use plastic bag habit and choose reusable bags. I was told I couldn't possibly inspire change, create products responsibly and make a living. I did by being patiently persistent.
I'm an entrepreneur, CEO, author, and speaker. My business is Eco-Bags Products (www.ecobags.com).
I know you can make a big impact, and a good living, by being laser focused with a "tiny" business. I was an actress and a new parent who needed my work to work for me. I wanted a platform to create the change I wanted to see and... I wanted it to fit my life. Don't you?
Time Magazine called me a "pioneer." Glamour Magazine featured me as an Eco-Hero. The Oprah Show featured our brand. I've been on QVC, in the acclaimed documentary "BagIt and have been recognized with awards.
I introduced ECOBAGS® in 1989 and built a successful, "tiny" social impact business from scratch. With more than 9 million ECOBAGS sold, I'm beyond thrilled, and humbled, to see all the environmental engagement and laws around reducing single-use plastic waste from bags to bottles to straws and more!
I speak on social entrepreneurship and "tiny" business to all kinds of audiences all over the world, from Yale and New York University to maximum security Sing-Sing Prison... to The FaFa Institute in Nairobi and most recently in Reykjavik Iceland to women entrepreneurs.
I'm part of these communities: BCorporation, Social Venture Network, Green America, Women President's Organization and the Westchester Collaborative Theatre.
