Robertson C. Miller worked in the high-tech industry most of his career life, including a stint at Lockheed Corporation (now Lockheed Martin), specializing in CAD software design and development. Robertson has also written both celestial and sailboat navigational software, the latter sold to places as far as Italy, the UK and Tasmania. Robertson grew up by the beach in California so he excelled in ocean sailing, kayaking and surfing at an early age. After moving to Seattle twenty years ago, he became a skilled mountaineer and hiker. As a mountaineer, Robertson has summited all five of Washington State’s highest volcanos: Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Baker, Mt Adams and Glacier Peak. On Mt. Rainier, Robertson has led teams, as well as descended by rope deep into glacier crevasses, and weathered a blizzard through the night in a snow cave 10,000ft. up on Rainier’s slopes. Robertson has also summited many other high Washington peaks, in particular the 9,415ft. Mount Stuart, on which the book is based. These experiences and many more provide a rich reservoir of adventure material for “The Carry”. Robertson has also summited the 12,965ft. Yushan (Jade Mountain) in Taiwan, the highest peak in Southeast Asia, and would’ve summited the 10,971ft. Mt. Etna in Sicily had it not been for hurricane-force winds at 8,000ft. Robertson Miller wishes to extend gratitude to each of his book readers. Thank you for reading my books!
