Timothy Brennan & Robert Ladd / Authors of Once Upon a Time in Compton Tim and Bob began their careers as police officers for the Compton Police Department in 1982. They were partners for 15 years working gang homicides in one of the most dangerous cities, during the most violent times in history. Their work involved investigations of the Los Angeles riot of 1992, murder of police officers, and investigations of gangster rap stars NWA, Suge Knight, D.J. Quick, and detailed investigations of the murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls, that led to suspects being identified in both cases. Bob and Tim practiced community policing which led to a great rapport with citizens and gang members alike. Bob and Tim retired from police work in 2014, and wrote their bestselling book Once Upon a Time in Compton, documenting these extraordinary events, which was released in 2017. With the recent success of the movies “Straight Outta Compton” and “All Eyes on Me”, and numerous documentaries on the murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls, it is apparent that there is an enthusiastic interest in these stories that covers large demographics around the world.
