Riaz Phillips is an award-winning writer and documentary maker. His previous cookbook on Jamaican food West Winds won the Fortnum & Mason Cookery book of the year Award 2023 and the Jane Grigson Award 2022, plus was listed as one of the best cookbooks of the year by the Guardian, Independent and more. Born and raised in London by a food loving Caribbean family hailing from Jamaica down to Guyana, Riaz self-published and released his first book 'Belly Full: Caribbean food in the UK' in 2017. For this he was marked as one the Observer Food Monthly "50 Things we love" annual list, and awarded a Young British Foodie (YBF) Award. In 2020, he edited the 'Community Comfort' cookbook, a collection of over 100 recipes from cooks of immigrant backgrounds that reached nationwide awareness raising funds for the families of Covid-19 victims from migrant backgrounds.
