My book The Path Less Chosen: A Life Lost and a Life Found is a true story of my youth into adulthood that left me scarred with unresolved issues that hurt and were painful. Growing up and rarely feeling loved and accepted, I chose not to trust in order to protect my heart. That led to living a double life that I hid from everyone. Eventually, that double life came to light when I was accused of a crime I did not commit. Facing the prospect of prison and afraid of losing my entire life, I turned to God and had an experience that showed there is a way to heal and change. I lost the most important people in my life when I was accused and convicted of crimes I did not commit. I lost my job, my reputation, my family, and my freedom. Being falsely accused and sentenced to a lengthy prison term, I began to seek ways to help others avoid the painful consequences of poor life choices and lead people to the greatest source of healing and change--God. Against all odds, I not only survived but also changed in my prison environment. Writing my story is one of many ways I hope to help others find the path to self-discovery and change and avoid the path that leads to incarceration and misery. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In my youth I earned an Eagle Scout award and also received my Duty To God award. I lettered in basketball in high school and enjoyed all sports; and at age 19 served a Portuguese-speaking mission to Portugal. Afterward, I attended a state college and then university where I studied business. I am the father of three beautiful children. See photo of Lou Bianco, narrator, for Audible on this page.
