Author Mark Jones attended the University of California at Los Angeles in the
late 1970s where he double majored in business and mathematics. With degree in
hand he then decided to leave the world he knew behind and travel to Japan
where his skills quickly earned him a job as an analyst doing research for a
securities house in Kyoto.
With plenty of international experience under his belt he returned the United
States to work for an international financial institution in charge of the Japanese
portion of their portfolio. In the early 1990s he took his experience and used it
help start one of the early hedge funds dedicated to international markets. After
leaving the hedge fund business in the early 2000s he focused more on
commodity investments including natural gas and solar power in Arizona.
In his free time, he enjoys helping novice traders reach their full potential,
spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, horseback riding and
collecting vintage examples of 1950s retro-futurist Americana.
