Marc C. Lee is a lifelong pilot and writer. He was born in Costa Rica and came to the United States at five years old when his family settled in California. He began writing in high school after discovering he had a passion for both reading and writing, and was drawn to aviation authors like Ernest K. Gann and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Marc discovered flying after a backseat ride in a small airplane when he was just six years old, and the fire was lit. His family couldn’t afford to pay for his flight training so Marc took jobs wherever he could as a young teenager, which led to working for famed Hollywood movie pilot, Frank Tallman at his “Movieland of the Air” facility at what was then Orange County Airport. He washed airplanes that appeared on TV and movies; he cleaned bathrooms, and stocked vending machines in exchange for flying lessons. Marc soloed at just sixteen years old and earned his private pilot certificate the following year, then worked his way through advanced ratings and certificates, including flying seaplanes. His aviation career included running his own flight school, flying as a commercial pilot, and teaching aviation both in the cockpit and classroom. In his writing career, Marc spent eight years as a contributing editor for Plane & Pilot Magazine, and published articles in outlets of every kind around the world as a freelance writer. His writing has appeared in every well-known aviation magazine, and everywhere from "Musician" to "Parenting" to the in-flight periodicals for every major airline. His articles have been published around the world. Marc is also a musician and songwriter, and his compositions have appeared on radio, stage, television, and film. A thirty-year member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), Marc has been awarded twice for his writing, and continues to receive airplay around the world. Deeply passionate about aviation education and safety, Marc is a member of the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) and spent several years as an adjunct professor of aviation for a leading west coast college. Marc is currently a director and script writer for the nation’s largest aviation course publisher. A longtime vintage airplane owner, Marc lives with his family in Southern California.
