Lucille Travis has written several books for children, held children's writing workshops, taught college-level English, and lectured in adult evening classes on C. S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and G.K.Chesterton. She has written poety, reviews, and articles for Christian periodicals. Her interest in writing began when as a young girl living in an orphanage in upstate New York, she was encouraged to enter a state-wide essay contest, and later a poetry contest and won prizes in both. To this day encouraging young writers is one of her joys. She holds degrees in education and Bible from Gordon College and a master's in literature from Western Connecticut State University. Her latest books,"The Blind Girl's Song" (her third Trailblazer, a biography of Fanny Crosby), and two new Kindle books:"A Few Brave Keepers" (a journey under earth) and "This Medal is for you, Papa" (based on the true story of a young German girl whose pastor father is persecuted for defending the Jews in Nazi Germany)are now available. . Many of her books have been historical fiction for children set in the Civil War and WWII. She also enjoys writing fantasy literature such as the recent "The Far Journey"(the story of a mythical mouse community that just might exist. She is currently working on a new children's Trailblazer. For Travis writing is a joy, a privilege, and hard work all made possible by the Giver of all graces large and small.
