Effin Older is a photographer, filmmaker, grammar-app creator and writer. Her images have appeared in National Geographic Traveler, New York Times, Washington Post, Continental Airlines Magazine, Vermont Life and elsewhere. Effin has photo-illustrated three outdoor sports books for Stackpole Books. Her writing has appeared in Hemispheres, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Snow Country Magazine and elsewhere. Effin wrote and photographed the book, Snowboarding. She has published more than 20 children's books. In the United States, her books have been published by Harcourt, Western, Troll, Scholastic and Bantam; in England by Heinemann and Orchard Books. Her ten-book series for Bantam is called Silver Blades Figure Eights. Effin has been a reading specialist, national television host, private tutor and editor. She is a member of the American Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and Bay Area Travel Writers. Effin and her husband, Jules, have lived in New York City, Vermont, San Francisco, and now live in Auckland, New Zealand.
