David Faris is a contributing writer at The Week and an Associate Professor of Political Science at Roosevelt University. He is also the author of Dissent and Revolution in a Digital Age: Social Media, Blogging and Activism in Egypt (2013) and co-editor of Social Media in Iran: Politics and Society After 2009. His academic work has appeared in Middle East Policy, International Journal of Middle East Politics, and Arab Media & Society. He lives in Chicago with his wife and son.
