Danny has been a paramedic/firefighter in Ohio since 2009. Marissa started life near Boston, MA and currently has a teaching license and has taught elementary school for over 11 years in Ohio. They grew up around the block from each other but somehow didn’t officially meet until after high school. In 2010 they took an opportunity to get involved in foster care in hopes of helping children who needed a home. The first three kids that moved in stuck around for the long haul. Two biological kids within two years of adopting and they had what friends referred to as an “instant family”. Kids’ books are a staple in the Cancino household. Several of these became favorites and inspired Danny and Marissa to try their hand at writing their own in hopes that maybe one day, with enough effort, work, and patience, they may write a book that would also be a household favorite.
