Cary J. Griffith

I'm an Iowa boy at heart; born and raised in Cedar Rapids, the Miami Beach of Iowa. I attended Garfield, Erskine, Franklin, Washington, University of Utah, University of Iowa (B.A. English), University of Minnesota (M.A. Library Science).

My sophomore year in college I read Hemingway's short story "Big Two-Hearted River" and found it seriously seismic. I have been writing approximately 1-2 hours a day ever since; more when time allows, less when life disallows.

I have always had a day job.

If it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert (Malcolm Gladwell, Outliers) that Rubicon was crossed sometime in 1987.

Married, 1976. Two sons: Nicholas Tristan and Noah Alexander. Divorced, 1989. Married, 2002: Anna Marie McCourt, stepdaughter Jessica Ashley McCourt.
