Alex Mendoza is an Associate Professor of History at the University of North Texas (Denton). He has published two books, "Confederate Struggle for Command: General James Longstreet and the First Corps in the West" (2008) and "Chickamauga 1863: Rebel Breakthrough" (2013) and co-edited an anthology, "Texas and War: New Interpretations of the Military History of the Lone Star State" (2012), with Charles D. Grear. He has published over a dozen articles and book chapters on a variety of topics, including War and Memory, Sports History, and Mexican American barrios. Mendoza teaches classes in American Military History, the American Civil War, and the History of Tejanos (Mexican Texans). He received his BS from The University of Texas at Austin and his PhD from Texas Tech University.
