The widowed Duchess of Sailer has desires that are hard to fill in polite society. To that effect, she visits a brothel to have her bottom reddened. If word got out, her reputation would be ruined. Inspector Rupert McKinley expects to get in and out, and figure out who killed Lord Ethan. When their business relationship turns into a personal one, Rupert is determined to find the murderer before someone else - like Olivia - is killed.

Is Rupert strong enough to protect Olivia? Will she be able to follow Rupert's lead to remain safe, or will he have to lay down the law? Is their personal relationship going to blossom or weaken amidst the danger surrounding them?

I enjoy historical romances from time to time, and thought this book was very well performed. I liked parts of this story and other parts not so much. Typically I do not associate spanking and regency romance. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I thought the author did great with her imagery and details, along with character development.

Oh my this was a lot of fun. This is the first time I've read/listened to Lexie Clark it won't be the last. I can't wait for the next part.
The narrator brings it to life, she has a wonderful voice.
This is a definite keeper.

The Dutchess Bows Down by Lexie Clark was a great read. This is the first book in The Bluekirk Agency series, The Duchess of Sailer has a dark secret that gets her involved in a murder investigation. I really enjoyed reading this book.
