Two years later, we were exactly where we'd always planned to be. I'd kept my promise. He'd forgotten all about his. Not only had he moved on, but the person he'd moved on with was my best friend, leaving me to begin college with a broken heart.

I guess this is the part where I'm supposed to tell you some other guy stepped in, repaired my shattered pieces, and made me smile again. This isn't that kind of story. My heart might have been broken, but it refused to fall out of love.

This book is a beautiful love story, full of so many emotions... happiness, sadness, angst, sorrow and contentment and fulfillment. As usual, this was another book which made me want to read more of Ella’s books.

Quinn broke my heart. Like my heart literally broke as if Quinn is real and he belonged to me! Like HEART BROKEN! SHATTERED! I don’t know how I would’ve gotten over it because I would’ve probably assaulted Alexis, especially after everything she did. But ultimately it’s all on Quinn for me. I genuinely don’t think I would’ve been able to forgive that young man. I judged everything he did from eating to sleeping to reminiscing while Daisy is literally bawling herself through the day. Callum was the perfect buffer, but I can’t lie if I was Daisy I would’ve been very flirtatious in front of Quinn because the petty in me would be like, TAKE THAT!

I love a book that gives me the feels. A book that makes me connect so much with the character that I feel her heartbreak and sorrow. First love hearache always get to me and this one doesn't disappoint Great story start to finish

The mfc (Daisy) and the mmc (Quinn) have been drawn to each other since meeting as young children, and have been in love for most of their lives, sharing all their adolescent firsts. At 16 Daisy is forced to move away when her father gets a new job - all this is told in long obnoxious flashbacks from hell - and when she finally reunites with Quinn in college, he's in a long term committed relationship with their former bff and childhood 3rd wheel (Alexis). I like OW drama. But I tend (like most people I'll bet) to prefer a clear enemy. In this book every single character is morally light grey. The whole thing was too realistic for my tastes (read: normal, bland). Alexis was bih-lite. There are no "mwa ha ha villains".

Quinn was the biggest disappointment of this book. He was a delta male through and through. A go-with-the-flow regular joe. Despite being a college football player (physical), extremely attractive, and self-actualized - which is usually the alpha trifecta. He just sort of clings to one girl while staring longingly at the other for 70% of the book. It was annoyingly complacent, wimpy behaviour. It made the whole thing play out more like a love triangle. There is cheating, but I kinda wanted the MCs to happily own it????? These two (Daisy and Quinn) were interrupted soulmates. Star-crossed, but meant to be. So fate gave them a second chance, and they spend the last hour plus walking around ashamed and flagellating 🙄. IMO they did what they needed to do. I know contemporary romance readers want virtuous heroes, but sometimes, writing a couple taking what they crave UNAPOLOGETICALLY, makes the love story stronger.

Not a huge fan of the back and forth between the past and the present. I wish it would have started in the past and then continued on. The heroine was good down to the bone and a few times I wanted her to snap out of it and be a little bad. I don't think Alexis got what she deserved and it irked me the hero was so worried about hurting her when she clearly did not care about hurting the heroine. I did like that the story ended back where it all began because the h/H were where they belonged.

Narration was good. I did enjoy the male narration more.

Sad that the h was such a doormat. She waited and didn’t even move on. However, the H had no problem! This was supposed to be true love? He had a girlfriend and sleeping with her. The h awe…. She was soooooo pathetic. I hope this author can write better story than this one. Of course, let’s blame alcohol to express true feeling blah blah.
