I've only ever fallen head over heels for two things...my mama's homemade lemon tarts and my on-again-off-again boyfriend, Jake Duncan. The lemon tarts are easy to replicate. The feelings I've carried for Jake Duncan? Not so much. So I've decided it's high time we ought to rekindle our romance. Now, Jake better get with the program or get out of town.

He's always had a thing for me, but I know I've hurt him in the past. Hopefully we'll be able to find our happily-ever-after before we tear down the tiny town of Swallow Springs, Missouri, trying.

What we have here is a failure to communicate

This was a prime example of why second chance romances are difficult to sell. Why did she leave without explaining herself? Why couldn’t she have called, wrote, or come back to town sooner and explain? Once back, how come she didn’t explain then? How come he didn’t demand an explanation, at any point, especially before jumping back in bed with the woman who broke his heart by leaving?

If a couple is so great together, and truly cares about not hurting each other, then an abject failure to communicate shouldn’t be the contrivance that breaks them up or draws the make-up story out.

Besides the basic premise being fundamentally flawed, the rekindled romance was basically them picking up being besties and doing the usual couples stuff with two tame sex scenes. It was standard vanilla … well, except for the record scratch comment about her favorite push-up that made her 36DDs look three times larger.
