Publisher's summary

Enki Zakanin just wants peace and quiet. He's completed his mission, and on the journey back to the Kordolian Fleet Station, he'd prefer to be left alone so he can manage the literal demon inside his head. Alone.

So when a strange distress call breaks the silence, his first instinct is to ignore the signal. Why would anyone be foolish enough to broadcast an open signal in the Ninth?

My name is Layla dela Cruz. I need your help.

A human? What in Kaiin's Hells is she doing this far into Sector Nine? Now, somehow, he has to go and get her. After all, he's given her his word.

exceptional

this is the 2nd time I am listening to the book. The reader is excellent and not overly dramatic but has just the right cadences and drama where needed.

Spectacular Listening🌟🌟♥️♥️

Anna Carven has created one of my favorite universes with this series about the Kordolian warriors. I’ve loved each and every story and this one was one of my favorites. The characters are compelling well written and their chemistry is off the charts. J.F Harding did an amazing job bringing these characters and story to life. I could listen to his voice read anything. Well worth the listen. Highly recommend ♥️🌟🔥♥️🌟🔥♥️

This series is amazing!

From the time I found Anna Carven’s Dark Planet Warriors with the spin off Dark Star Mercenaries I was hooked! The storytelling is rich and engaging and I felt like I stepped right into the universe from the first chapter of the first book! J.F. Harding is an amazing narrator and he adds a while new level of sexiness and intensity to the books. Read the Dark Planet series first and you won’t be disappointed!!

Fantastic second book in the series!

I definitely recommend this this audiobook! I found this story to be interesting, with lots of action, intrigue, suspense and romance.
The narrator does an outstanding job with the characters and the voices of each character making it easy to distinguish between the characters.

It was good not great

warning spoiler alert it seemed to me like the story was a bit rushed not a lot of details or interaction with the heroine and the hero just sort of like a rushed love kind of thing. The action is always good and so is the sex scenes, however some parts of the story were left kind of like a cliffhanger not really developed that's what made not so great.

I love this series and can’t wait for more

The combo narration for this book was good but I miss the combo from the first 3 books. Their voices brought you into that world. Such that I repeated listen to them. Definitely recommend this series!!

Dark Warrior, Hubba, Hubba!

I am fascinated with our main male in this story. He was all kinds of delicious and scary! Loved everything about it.

Awesome story!

I love all these audiobooks by Anna Carven! The hero in this story is a Cordolian who is part of General Arkadian’s mercenary group. He has been traumatized when he was deployed to a planet that the old empire was conquering and they destroyed the city he was in not caring he was still there on the ground. Almost dead, he eats the heart of a dying native citizen, only to have its spirit inhabit his mind. He’s traveling back to Darkstar Mercenary HQ when he hears a distress call with someone singing. He is loathe to investigate, but his curiosity draws him in. He finds out that it’s a human woman who was traveling to a resort planet when her ship was hit and destroyed by micro-meteorites. When he tells her he will rescue her, a bright light shines in her capsule window and things become much more complicated. He rushes to her rescue and I’m not going to give away any more of the story! It’s well worth your money and a listening pleasure. Narration was excellent.

I’m enjoying this second series

The narrator’s voice for Inke and Loden are great. He still needs to work on his female voices a bit. Lela sounds whiny and Abby sounds like a muppet. Alex was fine but still kind of weak, but fitting for the character. The romance is good. Build is okay. Kinda falls fast though making the climax fall a bit flat.

liked it, good narrator

i liked JF Harding's narration, he did a pretty good job on the female voices in my opinion also. the story was interesting, after reading other reviewers I learned that this came after another series but decided to do these first anyways after looking into the other ones and not liking the sample of the female narrators voice. there is a box set of the first four so I might try them later. these do reference the other characters from earlier series but they recap a bit around them so you never get that feeling like your missing a huge chunk of the story. enjoyed this book more then the first, explored the individual characters in more emotional depth. had allot of action going on and inner struggles. I liked that the female didn't go back and forth or ponder their connection she just went with it and it flowed well. can be kinda repetitive sometimes when both leads inner dialog goes over something that already happened. I like that each story can be a standalone but with a general overall arch that connects them however it's not a main plot line where you have to get another one to find out what's next if you don't want to. I recommend giving them a listen.
