The story is following Macy and Steil. Story is fast paced and full of angst, adventure and heat. This story is not as dark as some other ones in a series. Could be read as a standalone but I would recommend read the series in other so you can follow the story of ISC and not just individual couple.
The audio is a duet narration which brings the story to life. Narrators did a great with the story.

Story: Fashion designer Macy (h) is on the cusp of achieving the success she’s longed for when she’s kidnapped by International Science Corps (ISC) soldiers to be experimented on and changed into something new. Commander Steil (H) ponders the changes in his team as they’ve found their mates when he finds himself drawn to the deserts of Mai’Cus where he finds Macy has been left by the ISC. Macy struggles to accept the changes wrought by the experiments that have transformed the beta-born woman into an omega, even as Steil tries to help his mate, as her knows her to be. Lots of action and adventure takes place, but the story is more about Macy’s balance of her new persona and struggling to retain her old one, even as she comes to accept Steil. A dark and intense fated mates Omegaverse romance with plenty of heat, including heats, rutting, claiming, knotting and more.

Audio: The narrators did an excellent job with this story and really helped bring it to life from the written word. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I really like when authors choose to use two narrators, a male narrator and a female narrator, as it makes such a difference to hear male dialogue with a male voice and female dialogue with a female voice. Curt Bonnem again does an excellent job with the tone of voice he brings to Steil and other male voices, and Lessa Lamb gave Macy voice that seemed to capture her character, from the opening chapter when she’s working as a fashion designer to times when she’s struggling with the changes in her identity.

As book five in the series this was a great addition. I enjoyed the storyline it was exciting and entertaining. The characters are intriguing and I enjoyed there by play. The narration was good.

I really enjoyed this Omegaverse tale of Steil and Macy. Macy is kidnapped killed, then revived into a changed person. She was an up and coming fashion designer and was a beta, however, she was changed into an Omega. Steil is drawn to Macy after she is dumped in the desert and in a bad way. He is actually an amazing, kind Alpha towards Macy and he does what he can to help her.

I listened to the audio and so thought the voice actors were perfect for this story.

When Macy was at the cusp of complete success as a designer, the IFC threw her career a total curve ball. No longer a beta, she is left to accept her new designation as an omega. Steele is one of the last of his unit without an omega mate. Then he scents Macy and everything changes for Steele. He'll do anything at all to protect and care for her, even if that means leaving her alone. Great storyline. The narration was spot on.
