Publisher's summary

A steamy new monster romance from the bestselling author of Ice Planet Barbarians!

He is a hulking winged beast, complete with claws and fangs, and she is trapped alone with him in a dark tower. She should be terrified of him, so why does he turn her on?

Princess Candra must remain locked inside a tower for seven long years in order to protect her people from their goddess's wrath. Seven years without a friend—or a lover—by her side. And locked inside the tower with her? A fearsome winged Fellian warrior, Nemeth.

He's terrifying, cruel, and disturbingly magnetic . . . and the only other living being in the tower. Candra is torn between wanting to kill him for his supplies or having her way with him. After all, seven years is a long time to be alone.

Contains mature themes.

I was Gripped from the very beginning! Great world building that’s just so interesting! The characters are multifaceted and seem so real!

Epic tale!

Ruby is excellent at taking you through the growth of characters. This book was no different. She takes us through the growth of this princess and because of her growth, the growth of the kingdoms. It has the perfect amount of angst while giving the princess strength without making her obnoxious. I enjoyed the narrator’s voice also.

Love, Love, Love this story.

A romance full of adventure and many yummy sexy time scenes. I love the way Ruby writes in a way that pulls you in and keeps your attention so throughly that it is almost impossible to put the book aside until you finish it.

Love Journey

Oh, the drama! I had such a hard time pausing this story. Once Candra and Nemeth fall in love, they are so sweet together and lots of steamy hot scenes. Both characters were so different and they loved each other because of those differences. By around chapter 65 I was biting my nails, waiting for the conclusion to it all. Wondering narration as well.

Very good!

This was unlike any other Ruby Dixon book that I've listened to so far. She is one of my favorite authors to enjoy. I like the story. The characters are amazing. There were definitely multiple layers in this "onion." There was humor, manipulation, deceit, famine, war, depression, sex, betrayal, plague, a couple, etc. Beautiful world and character building. I loved the main characters love story and overall connection; however, I felt like there was a sadness to this book. It did end nicely though. I would recommend it to a Ruby Dixon fan

Two books in one...

This book feels like it was two books squished into one. The first half is about the trials and tribulations of life in the tower, and the second half becomes almost a mystery, as the main characters must figure out what has happened to their world, where their families are, and who is lying. Secrets are revealed towards the end, with multiple back-to-back plot twists. *Minor spoiler* I feel like the revelation of why Nemeth was chosen for the tower and his trainings in seduction was quickly glossed over in favor of the second plot twist of who was the mastermind behind the whole scheme. I almost wish this was a duology, as there were parts I wished would be more fleshed out while other parts I wished would have had less focus. I enjoyed the fact that the male main character was a virgin while the female was sexually experienced; it was a nice change of pace as I have found many books that feature the opposite.
