This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. I am a soap maker, so I really, really wanted to like this lit..Show More »tle book. I didn't. It's going to be hard to write this review without ****spoilers, so stop reading here if you want to avoid them***** The soap maker in this book has made enough money to hire 4 butlers. Really? They help her make soap. Why didn't she hire assistants instead of 4 butlers and have them make soap. They talk about making soap as if they are handling radioactive waste, gives us a bad name........lol. Then, if you were in a wreck where someone died, you would know of the victim's family and I don't think you would be unaware if their mother wanted to become your best friend and biggest customer. Then, a bunch of girls wouldn't be better detectives than the detective, who was gathering all of the information and giving it to them to solve the crime, why didn't he just solve the crime? They were pointless and unexplained. The actual writing was not bad, and the narrator did just fine, but the story was kind of lame.
I enjoyed listening to this book on audible; the narrator Priscilla Finch did a wonderful job narrating this book and speaking for both the men and wo..Show More »man characters. Becca and her fellow workmates from the Portman's Creamery are amateur spies who assist the local police force. Becca also creates art, and she was in an art show at the local gallery and had her work destroyed along with other works of art. Becca and her friends set out to find the culprit and keep themselves and Becca's friend Cameron safe from harm.
This was an interesting who dun it; characters were explained well and the story flowed chapter to chapter and keep mine interest throughout. This was my second book in the series I have listened too and will definitely read more as they become available.
Unfortunately the narrator took what might have been a decent book and turned it into more of a newscast. He didn't tell the story he read it at you i..Show More »n a newscaster type voice. I listened to about an hour of it before I couldn't take it anymore and I was not able to finish the book. From what I did listen to it's a light mystery with decent characters and the storyline was interesting. Hit the story actually been told by someone instead of presented as a newscast, I might have enjoyed it quite a bit. I receive this book at no cost from audio boom for my honest and unbiased opinion.
