This is the FIRST book in the Assassins series. For most of the book there was really no conflict, just a budding romance between two very different p..Show More »eople. It was simply a love story between a successful woman, Elli, who is loaded with insecurities, and a professional athlete, Shea, who is so amazing. Shea is the captain of the Assassins hockey team in Nashville. The heroine Ellie is sweet, funny, smart, and a incredibly successful photographer. She is also a young southern lady who has insecurity issues. Elli Fisher has been hurt, emotionally and physically, by former loves and her family. After overcoming a medical issues, she stood on her own for so long that she doesn't quite know how to trust others. Shea meets Elli at a team photo shoot where she is the photographer. He gets her to do the photography at party of his and things start to progress from there. This book has it all. Laughter, sexy time, drama, heartache and love. Shea the sexy, sensitive, tattooed hockey player for the Assassins wears geek glasses is muscled, funny, sweet, jealous, possessive and becomes totally in love &devoted to Elli. And Shea’s absolutely adorable with his twin sister, Grace, and her family. I thought Shea and Elli were so sweet together. However, Elli's excessive doubts throughout the chapters were the only qualms I had with the book, everything else was good. I did appreciate the slow building romance. These two characters did not just meet, had insta-love and lived happily ever after. Oh no, you got to see a build of a fantastic and realistic love. All in all, the book was entertaining and if you enjoy hot hockey players, I recommend it.
This is the second installment in the Assassins series by Toni Aleo. Lucas & Fallon’s story is very different than Elli & Shea’s. The author did a gre..Show More »at job of making the characters unique. I’ll be honest, it took me a while to warm up to Fallon. I could see why she did what she did, but she was a bit of a brat. It took forever for her to find forgiveness. I understood why she did some of the things she did, but it still frustrated me at times. She kept something pretty big from Lucas, and he forgave her, yet it took her so long to get over the past. I adored Lucas Brooks! He was an amazing guy! Loving, patient, swoony and oh so sexy. He knows that he screwed up in the past, but he is being a better man and is willing to do anything to make it up to Fallon. His struggle with addiction and his determination to stay sober, was inspiring. I felt like he needed to go through the consequences of his addiction, so that he and Fallon could be a couple. Without giving anything away, you see how sensitive Lucas is and the relationship he develops with one of the characters made me melt! I love that he was so close to his parents too. Lucas & Fallon definitely have some serious sexual chemistry! This was another great hockey-playing, sexy, tattooed, sweet, cocky, romantic hero and more HOT sex scenes!! Trying To Score is heart-warming, romantic, sweet, sexy, funny and a bit sad. The story had a little of everything. However, it didn't have anything special that makes it stand out but still worth the credit.
The story wasn't bad, but as a lifelong hockey fan, a couple of things were like nails on a blackboard. The accents were bad to start with, but Patric..Show More »k Roy's name does not match the Roy in Roy Rogers, and Vezina does not rhyme with Messina. The accent is on the first syllable, not the second. Those jolted my ear enough that I actually had to stop, back up and listen again to be sure what I was hearing.
Its not often you get to catch up on the lives of the couples from previous books. I loved catching up with the players and their wives during the hol..Show More »iday season. I can't wait for the next Assassin story! Lucy Malone is a great narrator who puts a lot of feeling and emotion into the story. Great job Toni and Lucy!
