There is an old saying about a friend will help you move, but a real friend will help you move a body. This is an above average story exploring the la..Show More »tter. A lonely math nerd comes to the aid of a single mother and her teenage daughter. The story pulls you along, forcing you to compete with the characters as they practice their deception or those seeking the truth. I spent the first few chapters (if not half the story) trying to decide which character was my hero only to conclude each had their own integrity, values and redeeming qualities. This is not your typical crime mystery - it's so much more. I greatly enjoyed it and hope you do too.
Nice narration by David Pittu, however the characters in "Salvation of a Saint," tended to be without much depth, even one dimensional. The book was ..Show More »still interesting enough to listen to. I never felt the need to stop in disgust, but was able to listen all the way through. Just not a first class work of fiction and not much mystery there either.
This one may be an acquired taste but I love Mr. Higashino's mystery novels. There is a certain clear prose (however it is best to let anyone reading ..Show More »that I love Japanese Literature translated to English) and an interesting mystery that is slowly revealed. There are some clues on the "how" but I only saw them in the end.
The reader is very good, managing to give voice to different genders and ages without visibly thinning his voice. Very good performance.
This one is highly recommended however it may come as dry to some.
