I've read/listened to all Vince Flynn's books, and while I thought the series got a bit tired over the last four books or so, he's shot new life into ..Show More »it with this work. I hope he's smart enough to take this gap between American Assassin and his first Rapp novel, Transfer of Power, and fill in that decade with a decade's worth of new Rapp material from his younger years. He could easily squeeze out eight or nine more annual offerings just by doing that, without allowing the series to get stale. While I'm not a fan of the guy doing the unabridged version, I love Armand Schultz, as both Mitch Rapp and Brad Thor's Scott Harvath. And he did a wonderful job here, bringing Rapp back to a younger, more naive version of the scorned, crusty guy he was by his 43rd birthday in the last novel. Great stuff from both writer and narrator!
I haven't been an audible customer for long but most of what I've purchased I've been happy with. I'm a large fan of Vince Flynn's works, and I was lo..Show More »oking forward to listening to the Mitch Rapp series. While this would be a good listen to someone who hasn't read the book before, Audible hurts the book by not labeling it as abridged. Huge portions of character development, plot points and major scenes are completely left out. This would have been an easy 5 stars if Simon & Schuster Audio had done this book in its unabridged glory.
This book was the first in a series that I will definitely go back and listen to. It would be good if these books were in 'Unabridged' format because..Show More » the depth of the characters would be better.
Yet another excellent book by Vince Flynn. A great additon to the catalog. The abrigded audio format, while keeping the pace of the book, lacks the ..Show More »depth found in the unabridged print version. Do not let this dscourage you, however, download this book and you will not be sorry.
Vince Flynn writes great spy thrillers. His main character Mitch Rapp, is the man's man, with just enough of his feelings showing that you know he is..Show More » human. I enjoy Vince's novels, with their plots that twist and turn, leaving you uncertain how the story will unfold. However, the publishers have decided not to put out all of his books in an unabridge version. Executive Power was a good story, but the telling of the story was so compressed, the reasons behind some of the characters actions weren't fully explained. It left me unsatisfied. I don't know if an unabridge version would make a difference, but based on experience with some of his unabridge novel, tells me it would. A good story, but I'd like to hear the unabridged version.
Mitch Rapp is back and true-to-form. Action packed, well-narrated. Too bad it was abridged (as are all the Mitch Rapp titles available at Audible). M..Show More »y suspicion is that it would have been better had it been unabridged--hence the 4 instead of 5 star rating.
Read by Guillan like nobody else can do. He paces this book so that you don't miss a thing and keeps you on edge throughout. It would be a perfect boo..Show More »k to convert to a movie if Flynn did the screenplay. I believe it would be on of the best spy movies ever.
Having read a few Vince Flynn books I was looking forward to this one, but it was very disappointing it used the same old story line, and the narratio..Show More »n was laughably bad. his versions of foreign accents were absolutely hilarious.. and awful. I'm sorry to say that is the last Vince Flynn book I will buy, and I will avoid anything narrated by Armand Schultz..
