I was disappointed. I thought it was started out promising and was excited to get into a new series but I couldn't get through this one. The premise w..Show More »as good but the conflict that the Parent and Teacher relationship caused was ridiculous. I know the story is set in a small town but give me a break. The husband can have an affair but she can't date a teacher.
I agree with the others who have complained about the narrator of these second 3 "Sweet Magnolia" books. She is awful. She makes all her variations ..Show More »of southern accents make the characters sound like fools. I was determined to listen to the books, so am bearing with it, but it is a real distraction. Janet Metzger, who narrated the first three books, was excellent. Why mess with a good thing? It really makes you wonder if the authors have any say at all in who narrates their books. I hope not, in this case.
I would still recommend the book as the story lines are really good. Love Sherryl Woods.
This book tackled bullying which has been a problem for many years. The author did a good job in making a decent story out of this age-old problem. ..Show More » She did a good job in showing how serious the problem can be and how it affects so many in it's trail. The story was believable and realistic in it's execution. The story also focused on a couple going through some marriage problems as well. This portion of the story was not as developed as it could have been, but it did not taken away from the story too much. It did not distract.
I was happy to see some of the regulars. Wish there was more of what was going on in their lives. This is a cute town and it proved how the magnolias went to work to put this issue to rest and do what magnolias do, support each other.
