Publisher's summary

Helen Decatur spent a lifetime setting goals - getting through college and law school, opening her own practice, becoming financially secure and establishing herself as one of the most highly respected matrimonial attorneys in the state of South Carolina. Achieving those goals was a breeze compared to the one she’s faced with now.

The most driven - and cynical - of the Sweet Magnolias, Helen is 42, single, and suddenly ready for the family she’s put on the back burner for all these years. Unfortunately, having a child at her age comes with lots of complications, not the least of which is the absence of a serious relationship in her life.

But Helen's not the type of woman to wait around for fate to step in. Taking charge of her own destiny puts her at odds with her two best friends, sets sparks flying with a man who doesn't want a family, and leads her straight into the most unexpected complication of all...love.

Reading was not the greatest. Sometimes hard to follow sentences and who was speaking.

Story was great but reader could have been better. Was not a smooth read. Thanks

Tess1000+books

The narrator was so bland., almost no inflection. It almost ruined the book for me!

Frustrating Character Choices

This book was a bit more unrealistic than the others to me. The decisions made by characters seemed very unlikely and made women seem crazy and manipulative. I was a bit disappointed with some of the ways the characters acted and some underlying messages in this book. Despite this critique, did I enjoy the book? Yes. Did I finish it and immediately buy the next book in the series? Also yes.

Good read

Good read in the Sweet Magnolias series. The only annoyance I had was the major over use of the work “incredulous”. Besides that I enjoyed the interweaving storylines of the residents of Serenity.

Narrator lacks

Not impressed with the narration of this read- there were pauses and odd breaks in sentences throughout the reading and the voices just weren’t on-point for me…

Love the story dislike the narrators

Why does the production think that changing narrator per book is good for the listener? Don’t you get that if we like the book we bing it, because we want to know what happened with the characters. A new narrator disrupt the experience and does not help the enjoyment of the book.

Maybe is time for the author to call back the first narrator and re-record these books with her and another production company… I will buy and listen to them again! Just saying!

Poor narration

AsI said with Book 2, the narrator needs to have a Southern accent she can rely or bring to the narration. Book 1 was better done.
