These books are about the three handsome Highland brothers from the Murray clan. Balfour is clan chief and he is instantly attracted to Maldie, a hea..Show More »ler, who he comes across while returning from a battle and decides he needs her - not just because his brother Nigel is wounded but because she is also beautiful.
Both Balfour and Nigel are attracted to Maldie but she is only interested in one of the brothers. Instant attraction, good romance but secrets that are kept ruins their relationship and anyway she has a previous promise to fulfil elsewhere which all leads to mistrust and misgivings.
I hope Audible will soon stock book 2 Highland Honor (Nigel's story) and Highland Promise (Eric's story). Then there are the spin off series that H.H. wrote like Highland Daughters, Highland Grandsons and all the In-Laws - so, with any luck, there will be a lot to follow.
Worth a credit? Good strong characters and an interesting plot all lead to a yummy listen so it's a YES.
This is the 2nd book of the Highland Series featuring the Murray brothers,It's 7 years later as we learn what happened to Nigel since he left Donncoi..Show More »ll after losing Maldie to his brother Balfour. Nigel becomes a mercenary, offering his sword and fighting skills to any French lord who pays the most. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself sprawled in the mud, having spent all night boozing with no recollection of how he got there, he knew it was time for him to go home and face reality. While deep in thoughts, he hears voices and checks to see whom they belong to. He spots two people deep in conversation but knew instantly that the one dressed like a lad is a woman.
Gisele Deveau is a hunted woman. Falsely accused of the gruesome death (no really GRUESOME) of her wealthy husband, she has been running away for a whole year. When Nigel ends up saving her life, she knows that he is her only hope.
Realizing that Gisele's life is in extreme danger, Nigel is overcome with the need to protect her, especially when he learns that she is pretty much on her own. And although she fears men in general Gisele has little choice but to trust the man who has entangled himself in her troubles.
Little do they know that they would be faced with another trouble: that of their growing attraction to each other. Nigel is torn and confused about what he feels for Giselle who looks very much like Maldie, his sister in law - and the reason he left home in the first place. While Gisele is terrified to put her trust in another man after what she has experienced at the hands of her husband.
Gisele is a likable heroine, very similar to Maldie but with a sharper tongue. Both characters are strong and well-matched and as passionate as the first book's characters. I
The homecoming scene was one of my favourites
Great Series. I am beginning book 3 about little brother Eric
As with all the Murray books - they are filled with... yes, I'll say it again, HHH (Handsome Highland Hunks) and this one has the most handsome but he..Show More » is so much more than a pretty face - he's loyal, brave, and true.
This one seemed to pack so much into it - lasses to be won, battles to plan, the King to see, old enemies to kill, find out who your true kin is, a birthright to claim back, a bride to woo bed and wed etc etc etc that you can't help but be impressed at HH's writing abilities as she entwines the plot with lots of sub plots effortlessly.
Worth a credit? Yes and I've happily spent the credits and downloaded all he Highland books.
Sexy Highland warrior Cormac rescues his 'soul mate' who had rescued him 10 years ago when she was but a bonny wee girl of 9. Elspeth has loved and d..Show More »reamed of the boy she saved all those years ago then, unbelievably, there he is rescuing her from the clutches of a demented Laird who has kidnapped her and is determined to marry her.
Cormac and Elpeth flee to the Royal Court but on the way Elspeth must convince him to break a vow to another beauty by any means she can - including sex.
Lovely story, yes a little unbelievable, but my fellow romance listeners - that's why we love them so much!!
Firstly, I've somehow listened to the series out of order as I've missed out books 2 and 3 but I can't see it matters so, my point is, this could easi..Show More »ly be a stand alone listen.
I'm a real sucker for the handsome, hunky, kilt wearing, claymore wielding, historical Highland warrior who has a quest to fulfil or a wrong to put right - so call me shallow and count me in - and luckily for me this has it all. Unfortunately Highlander Laird Cameron didn't bargain to like the high spirited Avery, his hostage, so much and he soon trust, wants, needs and desires her and they spent many sex filled nights during the journey back to Scotland from France sharing more than just his tent.
There are tense times in the beginning as DeVeaux and his army want Avery back so there's battles, and high jinks as they try to outwit him. The hours are filled with some funny, likeable and charming characters who all get embroiled in this adventurous tale that has passion, friendships, sex, laughs, plot twists, desire and heartbreak as, in the end, Cameron must choose between his duty or his love.
Worth a credit? Yes, and if you can, invest in the whole of the Murray Clan's romantic adventures - I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
