I have never heard of this series...I was doing a random search on Audible and it came up and OMG am I glad!!!!
Controlling dominant alpha ma..Show More »le gazillionair...who is of course damaged. On the edge of loosing it alpha female...who is of course damaged....throw them together and watch the sparks fly, HOT sparks....SOOOOOOO HOT! So hot that I didn't want to go to sleep, I just wanted to keep listening!
Nothing specifically mentioned as far as dom/sub goes, but it's there just waiting to be discussed. The sex scenes were well developed and outstandingly described, IN GRAPHIC DETAIL.
It has a hot alpha male who is rich, but that is where the similarities to fifty shades stop. The female lead is NOT a virgin, THANK YOU J. Kenner for not following that cliche, there is no red room of pain, and they aren't from totally different worlds which was nice.
It had similarities to Bared to You with the rich alpha male again...but bared to you is more mid life to me, and this is late 20's early 30's of two damaged people finding someone else who is damaged enough to over look their damage and build a bridge.
I can get why people have compared this book to 50 and Bared, but it's a different animal to me....a very NICE animal!
I downloaded book two while only half way through book 1, and book three is due out in the summer so YEAH, not a really long wait....but I don't know how I will pass the time without another dose of the yummy Damian Stark.....oh so yummy!
When I finally got to read this book I was very excited. I know that I was going in with an open mind and the idea that I would find an original and d..Show More »ifferent story. Well, that wasn't necessarily the case. Like many other contemporary Erotica Release Me presents characters and situation that are pretty common in most the erotica coming out lately. As far as the plot, it was interesting but not different from others in the genre. Release Me follows somewhat the same path as Fifty Shades of Grey, a hot, young and intellectual man who has control issues based on childhood scars. However, I find it a bit refreshing that the female main character wasn't innocent at all; she was witty and had playful personality that I enjoyed very much.
Damien is possessive, sexual, and overpowering. As a child his father pretty much controlled his life and he was forced to follow other's commands. As an adult he found release in his control. Everything and everyone around Damien always did what he wanted and when he wanted. I like that in a way, because it shows his determination and dedication to the things he believed in. What I don't like however, is his lack of communication and explanations for his reasoning and actions. I like Damien but I can't help to compare his character to Christian of Fifty Shades of Grey.
Nikki is funny, smart and believes in individualism. I like her personality but I disagree how she handled her relationship with Damien. Nikki first met Damien during a beauty pageant that Damien was sponsoring; however he didn't give her a second thought and moved on. While for Damien she was just another young participant, for Nikki meeting Damien was a dream, even when she only saw him for a few minutes. He made an impression on Nikki and stayed in her mind ever since. I like the way Nikki's strong personality handled certain situations in her professional life, however her infatuation with Damien didn't seat well with me. Nikki was more preoccupied on saving Damien, than saving herself. Her inability to confront her demons (mother) brought me border line mad. I believe in strong women and though Nikki was professionally strong, as a person she was somewhat weak. I thought she would be able to stand up for herself and put her mother in her place.
What I liked about the story, the sex, the passion, the games, the pampering. Damien is a sex god and knows how to make a woman moan. Nikki wasn't afraid to show Damien her need and desire for him, she took delight in their encounters and even encouraged him to go out of the ordinary. Sexually they were matched made in heaven, emotionally not so much. Both characters have issues to handle and both characters need more than just the sex; however they use it as a coping mechanism and a way to find connection. These two characters rocked the bed, the walls, the car and the window. I enjoy those scenes and I think the author did a pretty good job describing them and crafting the scenes.
What I hope to see in the next book: I want to see a more open relationship between Nikki & Damien; I want to see more participating from Nikki, really just laying there isn't fun in sex lol. Though Nikki enjoyed Damien's protection I also think she felt overwhelmed. Damien needs to open up about his feelings, about his childhood issues and his daddy issues. I want to see Nikki tell her mom off, I want to see Nikki more concern about her life professionally. The sex in this story rocked, it was good and it was detailed, overall Release Me is a good story, but not a five devils story. Readers who enjoy Fifty Shades of Grey will enjoy Release Me. Sofia Willingham did a good job with the delivery of the story.
Part two was just as awesome as the first book. I really am enjoying this series and have not stopped listening. Damien and Nikki rock and I love th..Show More »at she is starting to hold her own. I like that although she is submissive she still has spunk. My only complaint is that I have to wait until next month to get part 3. This is an absolute must read in my opinion but you need to like 50 Shades and Bared To You books because this is written in the same manor but with its own unique plot twists. I just really like stories that have hot steamy scenes and still have a plot. The characters sizzle on the page and leave you just wanting more. Worth the credit!
Complete Me is the final book of the Stark Trilogy. Damien Stark the rich, refined multimillionaire who uses control and dominance to preserve his faç..Show More »ade of normalcy. While inside he is deeply wounded from childhood sexual abuse. Nikki Fairchild his love interest is a southern pageant girl who has moved to LA to start her new chapter in her life. But Nikki has dark secrets herself. She is broken & insecure. Complete Me starts off where Claim Me left off. I strongly recommend you read the previous two books first. This series has been compared to the Crossfire Series & Fifty Shades of Grey and it does follow a similar style and characterizations. Damien and Nicki's relationship throughout the book is as intense and sexual as in the first two novels. I’d actually say the sex was hotter in this book than in the first two of the trilogy. The story picks up right before Damien's trial, and we are immediately returned to the dynamics of Damien and Nikki's relationship. Nikki has completely opened up, but now we must wait and see if Damien will finally reveal all of his secrets as well. I found parts of this book predictable but still a page turner. Overall, I would say this is a must read. The ending was truly my favorite; it was very passionate and perfect.
I really wish the author had cut the junk out of this book and added it to the end of book 3. I felt like the majority of the book was filler and I wa..Show More »s completely bored. The only reason I kept going was a need to finish the series. I still feel Sofia Willingham was the perfect narrator.
...they anchored each other, loved deeply, held on tight and never gave up.. or gave in.
It was so good to visit with Nikki and Damien again ..Show More »and to see what wicked challenges Fate had thrown at them this time.. and I wasn't disappointed because yup even in the almost idyllic and almost perfect world of the Starks.. trouble is never far away. What with Damien's secrecy over something mysterious and Nikki's volatile feelings over her Mother and worry about x (sorry no spoilers) Nikki has to fight Damien, fight her Mother's legacy, fight to land a big client, fight jealousy, fight to keep her control.. and fight her need to self-harm. But the one thing Nikki wasn't fighting was her undying love for, and faith in, Damien.. along with her relentless lust to have him.. anywhere anytime.
Unfortunately there was trouble in paradise for these two strong yet vulnerable characters which took its toll and was very moving.. but they eventually came through it even more deserving and determined to get their HEA's.. and they so did in this bitter-sweet book. Love was never the issue with these two unforgettable characters.. but they were their own worst enemies sometimes. Fears, hopes and dreams - love, sex and passion - pain, loss and tears - drama, angst and secrets - anger, regrets and insights - apologies, forgiveness and second chances - loyalty, trust and love - happy days, happy nights and happy ever afters. Friends, humor and happy couples were there too as foes were fought, mysteries were solved, questions were answered and loose ends were skilfully tied up. And thankfully J. Kenner isn't quite finished with Damien and Nikki yet because Hold Me should be out in May folks. Told from Nikki's POV and I thought the narrator was good.
Worth a credit? Yes abso-freaking-lutely.. and it made me want to listen to their turbulent, emotional and sexy journey all over again.. because at the end of it all they've made a formidable, loving and loyal couple.
