I am a HUGE devotee of the Medieval Highlander romance genre so, although I hadn't heard of this author before, I took a chance - which thankfully pai..Show More »d off.
It has all the usual trappings giant kilt wearing Highland hunks, someone to save, battles to be won, some great characters and a few baddies thrown in too, lots of passion, mild sex, a damsel in distress and, of course, romance in the form of 2 broken engagements but only 1 wedding. All this and a bit of history too - the battle at Stirling and William Wallace makes a couple of guest appearances too.
Yes, the heroine was a wee bit stupid sometimes i.e. she escapes from his Highland Castle where she is being treated really well and intends to walk all the way back to England (but hey who knows maybe she was just playing hard to get). On the whole the book was an enjoyable easy going listen but I would have preferred a male narrator for all the beefy parts as I think the female narrator made this a lighter listen.
Worth a credit? Yes it was, but I can't say it was one of my favourite Highland Books but I am looking forward to the next in this new series.
This is a nice continuation in the series. I liked book one but I though this was a little better. It had more adventure and suspense than book one...Show More » Aliah and Blaine had great chemistry and the story moved along at a good pace. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys light highlander romances. Also, the narrator is great. .
I don't like reviews that explain the whole plot of the story of a book. Why should I listen to it if I know the outcome? Makes no sense to me. ..Show More » With that being said, I enjoyed this third book in the series. The book centers around the love story of Myra and Daniel. It basically deals with the hardship struggles and trust issues between them. My only negative about this book is the ending seems a bit rushed. I got into the characters and wanted to know more in the end. But overall, I enjoyed it.
The fact that this book has a woman who is an actual warrior makes this Highland story quite unique. Many stories show women who are strong fighters ..Show More »but Julilanna was actually trained to be a warrior. When Ronan and Julianna are thrown together there is not only romantic chemistry but battle chemistry. Juliana is smart, strong, spirited, and courageous.....Ronan is powerful, brave, chivalrous, romantic, and delicious. Ronan was not intimidated by Julianna's warrior strength, he admired and respected her. The kind of man women dream of.
Although this story has actual historical characters it has many fictional characters which makes for a more interesting story. Overall, this is a fun romantic read especially when you need an escape from reality.
Also, Corrie James as narrator is always a pleasant listen.
This series never fails to deliver a wonderful love story along passion and adventure. The author makes each book interesting an entertaining. In th..Show More »is installment the main characters are Brandon and Mariana. Brandon is the usual strong, handsome, highland warrior but Mariana isn’t the typical virginal heroine. Mariana is French, beautiful, and skilled in the art of making love. Together their chemistry is smoking and their determination is admirable.
I think this whole series is great and if you enjoy Highland romances its definitely worth a credit.
