Publisher's summary

Unemployed university professor Tyler Marsh is pounding the pavement looking for a job. After a year of rejections based on her over-qualification, she's dumbed down her resume in a desperate attempt to get her foot in the door somewhere—anywhere! Then, Buffalo's leading marine engineering firm offers her a low-level placement as a personal assistant.

Chief Innovation Officer and wounded veteran Georgie DiNamico doesn't want an assistant or anyone else bothering her. She has her work, her dog, and her nightmares to keep her company. Heir-apparent to her family's engineering firm, a head injury suffered in Afghanistan has left her feeling too broken for anything else.

Georgie has no use for the helper that her family insists she hire. But when Tyler's resume lands on her desk, along with a company background check listing the advanced degrees she omitted, Georgie sees an opportunity to add a researcher to her R&D team.

Tyler quickly realizes that her new boss is not the damaged goods everyone sees. She recognizes something special in Georgie DiNamico, garnering trust, loyalty, and something more . . . something Tyler hasn't thought about for a very, very long time.

Contains mature themes.

Liked it

This is the 2nd book from Sheryl wright that I’ve heard and I really enjoy her stories and her writing. Didn’t want to put it down. I really hope more books of hers come out on audio.

Good Book

Reading the summary I was not expecting the main character to have a hard time communicating. The author took a different approach and reminds one not to judge too quickly. Georgina is smart as heck and has a big heart.

Excellent !!!! This is a winner.

Where to even start. When I read the synopsis a week ago, maybe, I immediately decided to purchase, only to find to my dismay I had to wait with the pre order. So worth the wait. It is such a good listen. Fantastic story line and just when I thought I knew what was going to happen Ms. Wright decided to engage me even more because it didn't go the way I thought. Ha. What's not to love about this book, well I can't think of anything.
The MC's OMG , Georgie, can I just squeeze your loveable self and wonderful, wonderful Tyler....so perfect for each other. There are many characters in this story, we get to see their families and visit the past a bit and glimpse at what it would take to bring these two women together. Sherly Wright has written a beautiful and engaging story. Well done Ms. Wright, well done.
Melissa Moran, take a bow dear lady, your narration was splendid. Made my listening experience most enjoyable. 5 stars.

Excellent story, excellent characters

l loved this book. I liked the depth of the story. It was enjoyable to keep guessing about what would happen and who would land on which side of the conflict.

The character development and character discovery was well done. So good to see this portrayal of the costs of war, including the veterans returning with deficits related to PTSD and traumatic brain injuries.

This story was not quite fade to black. The passion, angst and bedroom scenes seemed right to me for this story.

Iiked the glimpses into business, engineering, law and corporate ethics. The environmental impact of 2 stroke engines is real.

Hard to follow

I liked that it was different than every other cliché sapphic romance novel, but it was confusing and fragmented. It skipped around family dynamics with random stories thrown in. I kept thinking, “get to the point already!”
There was only one sex scene and it was as disjointed as the rest of the story. There was no forplay or much to draw it out. Tyler went from being unsure about her feelings for her boss one minute, to knocking on Georgie’s door and being underneath her the next. One second there was this nonexistent thing to them sleeping together and Tyler calling her “baby” for the rest of the book. It was an odd endearment to get used to because there wasn’t much of a relationship build up.
The narrator did a good job though. She kept it alive in a sense.
