Publisher's summary

Leaving his enormous family behind, native New Yorker, Elijah, decides to move to Brighton Pier for a fresh start. Just when he thinks his new life is going perfectly, he finds out his burgeoning relationship is nothing more than a friends-with-benefits arrangement to the man he was swiftly falling for.

Jake has worked hard for the life he's made for himself in Brighton Pier. Running his own business and spending time with his family and friends is enough for him, or so he's convinced himself. Though he's met a man he cares for, he's adamant about keeping his single life as is. He just hopes their friends-with-benefits arrangement will be enough to keep Eli in his life.

When tragedy strikes, and Jake's world is turned upside down, his instincts lead him to lean on the one person who's become someone special, despite his best efforts to try and push him away. Eli-unable to turn Jake away when a loss so great takes the strong man to his knees-steps selflessly into the void in Jake's life, regardless of the toll it takes on him. As both men struggle to deal with their own emotional turmoil, their lives veering off course, they grow inevitably closer as the days pass. Can two people, drawn together by tragedy, turn a devastating situation into a fresh start? Or is it too late for a new beginning?

Contains mature themes.

Awesome story read

I fell in love with the Haven's cove series the first time I read it. When it was released in audio, I thought there was no way listening to it could be better than reading it. I was so wrong.
When I realized Jaclyn Quinn didn't have the Beyond the cove series in audio I was heartbroken. I hear the characters voice in my head when I read the books, but hearing them as the story is read...it just takes the story to another level.
I'm glad she brought the first book into audio and can't wait for the rest.

Loved it! I lived the plot.

This was my first book by this author and I thought it was great. I immediately fell in love with the characters. The story is very well written and I loved how it developed. I just finished listening to the audiobook and I am going to listen to it again right now. When I really love a book I listen to it twice in a row. Also, the narrator was perfect! The tone and cadence of his voice was great for this story.

Very likeable and attractive couple

It’s a nice story with very likeable characters. At times it lacked a bit depth or originality for me. The narrator makes up for some of it.

Ms. Quinn, you broke me. lol. You pulled out all my emotions in this wonderful story.

Jake and Eli stumble though a myriad of emotional blocks, loss, growth and finally linking all the characters into one large family. Thank you.

So glad I found this author

I can’t say enough about this book. So hard to find good authors in this type of romance. This actually had a well written story with hot sex scenes . Most are just about the sex scenes and very little story or poorly written stories. I stayed up way too late listening, I just didn’t want to stop. Starting second book now

4/5

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. Some parts were a bit predictable, but the tragedy that keeps the story going is well written and believable.

The narration was amazing, he did amazing work.

Jake and Eli…

Kind of an emotional ride. I thought it was a beautifully written story…I felt a range of things listening. There was some sadness, happiness, laughter, a little spicy, some anger…it’s everything without being too much. There were a lot of characters because it is the beginning of a series, but it all worked and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of these stories!

Bittersweet

The underlying premise of the book is really heart wrenching, but I loved Jake’s true character. Eli’s family is also awesome, as are the kids neighbors.
I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again though—parents who are outright hateful to their child and who are close-minded bigots have no business being parents—or grandparents!—at all.
