A New York Times bestseller, The Paper Swan is a haunting tale of passion, loss, and redemption. Dark, gritty romance that sizzles with intrigue and suspense.
"You can either choose love or you can choose hate, because where one lives, the other will die."
Kidnapped a day short of her twenty-fourth birthday, Skye Sedgewick struggles to uncover her captor's motives. Damian Caballero is not only impossible to read, but also dark, troubled, and unflinchingly brutal.
For twenty-one days, Skye holds on. But on Day Twenty-Two, she yearns for the sweet slumber of death. Because on Day Twenty-Two, Skye realizes that her only way out means certain death for one of the two men she loves.
Intended for mature audiences due to violence, sex, and language. Subject may be disturbing for some listeners.

From the first paragraph you are drawn into the idyllic life of two children. One wealthy, one a son of the hired help. Circumstances bring tragedy and the brutal life begins.
The trusting naive children who love each other learn that life is not fair and is very hard. This is a gritty, gripping tale that is not for the faint of heart. No spoilers but eventually there is a happily ever after..... but only after suffering, plot twists and anguish for all parties involved.
I highly recommend this story. It is one of the best reads I have had the pleasure of coming into contact with in the last two years. Narration performance is also stellar. The author has a clear idea of the story to go and her character development/plot/twists have you on an emotional roller coaster.
If you want feel good read this is not the book for you. My emotions ran the gambit of happy, anguished, horrified ... teary eyed .
This read was beyond credit worthy! Certainly worth buying. Credit/Buy/Sale .

What did you like best about this story?
I loved this book. I bought it based on the reviews and was so happy I did. I loved the suspense and the great Characters. The Character development was amazing. You loved them, hated them, despised them, felt compassion for them... all in the same book. Just... wow!Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to this all in one sitting... I was trying to get Calculus homework done and kept taking "breaks" to listen to the story. Not much calculus got done that day!Amazing Book!

What made the experience of listening to The Paper Swan the most enjoyable?
The story really tugged at my heart and narrators really did a good job.Which character – as performed by Shirl Rae and Zachary Webber – was your favorite?
Zachary Webber of course. I bought this book cause of him lol. He's my favorite. Shirl Rae was good too. Before I listened to this book, I was listening to one and the female narrator was awful so I was happy with Shirl's narration. Esteban's character was beautifully written but I come to love Skye when she became more than a rich spoiled brat.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me cry. Ive known women like Mama Lu and kids like Esteban. It's a sad world they lived in.Any additional comments?
This is my first Leylah Attar book. I love it. It's no ordinary love story. There are some parts I wasnt fond of but the great parts that I love made up for it.Beautiful and sad

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Paper Swan?
The shooting scene. Definite full of suspense. But there were so many great scenes. The opening chapters drew me right in.What does Shirl Rae and Zachary Webber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think Zachary Webber really brought a lot to the male character. The suspense, the pain, and the history were just so well written and then brought into this story by the narrators. First time listening to Shirl Rae and I really liked her as well. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It never stopped moving you through the story, so much happens and so much about the past is brought to light too. It is done right and you feel like it all comes together at the right point.Any additional comments?
I'm stingy with my five stars, but this book has it all: great story, hot romance, good narration, suspense, and originality.Twist and turns ahead!!
