Andre Norton enthralled readers for decades with thrilling tales of people challenged to the limits of their endurance in epic battles of good against evil. None are more memorable than her Witch World novels.

Simon Tregarth, a man from our own world, escapes his doom through the gates to the Witch World. There he aids the witch Jaelithe's escape from the hounds of Alizon, only to find himself embroiled in a deeper war against an even deadlier foe: the Kolder.

It certainly took me long enough to get around to Andre Norton's work, it was truly worth the wait. She provides quality plot lines and great characters. I'm old fashioned I guess, I still love good old style action and romance. It is nice to know, at least in her universe, good still triumphs evil. Strong characters, great narrations and AUDIBLE's demand for quality product makes it a genuine pleasure to "LISTEN", read AUDIBLE BOOKS.I've been a user of recorded books since 1968, a couple months before there was AUDIBLE, so, for quite some time I've had an appreciation for audio books. Thanks to (NLS) National Library Service, who provide recorded audio material to Blind & Physically Handicapped persons like myself and my wife. Thanks AUDIBLE, keep up the great work!!

If you could sum up Witch World in three words, what would they be?

excellent Norton classic

What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Nick is one of those narrators that can bring the story to life

Any additional comments?

a fantastic way to not only introduse the listener to Andre Norton ,but also to the series of Witch World.

Great listen

I had read the Witch World books many years ago and enjoyed them at that time. The enjoyment of the series has been rekindled with this audio version. It was enjoyable to be reintroduced to Simon Tregarath and the Witches of Estcarp. I hope that a number of the other books are brought out. The narrator does a wonderful job with reading the book.

Wonderful

Having mistakenly read book 3 first, I like this one better. You can see the reflection of 50s 60s American fears of invasion from outside, portrayed as the invasion of technology breaking into a world of magic. On the down side, having lived in another culture, I have to really work hard to suspend my disbelief that a normal human living as an alien can so thoroughly master the language, psychology and society of another world. The narrator is clear and makes no attempt at artistic rendition of characters.

Understandably well-received
