The second book in Jan Karon’s bestselling Mitford series confirms that a trip to Mitford is good for the soul
His attractive neighbor is tugging at his heartstrings. A wealthy widow is pursuing him with hot casseroles. And his red-haired Cousin Meg has moved into the rectory, uninvited. As you can see, Mitford's rector and lifelong bachelor, Father Tim, is in need of divine intervention. In this beautifully crafted second novel in the Mitford series, Jan Karon delivers a love story that's both heartwarming and hilarious. Only time will tell if the village parson can practice what he preaches. Like At Home in Mitford, this book is filled with the miracles and mysteries of everyday life. And the affirmation of what some of us already know: Life in a small town is rarely quiet and it is absolutely never boring.©1995 Jan Karon; (P)1996 Recorded Books, LLC All rights reserved

I did not love this book as much as I loved the first one. it got bogged down with all of the misunderstandings between father tim and cynthia. I do love all of the characters.

! loved it! The characters continue to grow personally and spiritually. The story inspired me to care for my fellow people, grow spiritually, search for God's will for my life.
The narrator is perfect for this particular story because he sounds like I would expect Father Tim to sound, yet he does a great job of altering his voice to be Dooly or Cynthia or whoever.

So full of faith and love!

My husband and I listened intently as Father Tim and Cynthia’s love grows and a Dooley grows too. I read it several years ago but listening this time was at least as enjoyable. Fun to share Father Tim together.

I liked the small town Timothy lived in. Reminds me of days gone by, the way things used to be.
