Publisher's summary

Ellen Marx sees ghosts.

Her mother, Rita, just wants her to be a "normal" 11-year-old kid. But that's tough to do when you receive a birthday card from your dead father.

Following a trail of breadcrumbs left by her dad, Ellen sets out on a journey to unravel the mystery surrounding her father's disappearance and ends up unearthing secrets best left buried.

The third and final book in the haunting trilogy, The Messy Man brings to a close the story that began with The Nightmare Room and The Hungry Ones.

a good ending

I really liked this story and the progression of depth from the first book. The characters were all distinct and interesting. some bits were predictable but I am very happy for the ending and overall was surprised.

something's missing

Book 3 has you all over the place. there were a few times that I lost my way and kept at it hopefully picking it up along the way. His way of writing fluid enough to flow and the story kept building but I feel empty, like all answers weren't given in the end.

Amazing end

I loved how this book tied the other two together. An amazing writer and narrator. This was exactly the story that was needed and gave an amazing character a spectacular story.

The Messy Man

I loved this book, and books 1 and 2 as well! The different points of views and character changes made these stories a great listen!

More enjoyable than anticipated

When I first started this series (I didn't know it was a series), I didn't think I was going to enjoy it as much as I did. The Nightmare Room started off slow, and I thought it would be predictable. By the end, my interest was peaked enough to move on to The Hungry Ones. It was free on Audible at the time, so why not. In my opinion, each book in this series is better than the last, and The Messy Man was the best one by far. Looking back, I never would have guessed these stories would have taken the turns they did. It was all very engaging and thought-provoking.
It's nice that each book picked up where the last left off. I do think it could have been made better with a different narrator, but I can understand an author wanting to narrate for themselves to complete their vision of the story.
All in all, I would definitely recommend the whole series to a friend

Should Be Titled The Messy Storyline

I have now read all three books in this series. The hanging threads and overlapping storylines make it all jumbled, confusing and, while interesting, extremely hard to follow.
