Publisher's summary

I've loved Hendrix Cole all my life.

I was seven when I met him. Thirteen when I first kissed him. Sixteen when I gave him my heart. And 18 when he gave me his ring.

Hendrix swore to love me forever.

Instead, he broke my heart. Scarred my soul. Destroyed my entire world.

Six years later, he wants a second chance. Problem is, I don't trust him. Not to mention, I have a secret. One that will destroy us both.

Only two questions remain.... Is redemption beyond our grasp? Or will true love prevail?

Contains mature themes.

Great story; awful female narration

I wanted to continue series, but it is the same narrator and just yuck ! The story and writing is good if you can get past her.

Liked the story but...

First time reading or hearing anything by this author. I enjoyed the story for the most part. I had a really hard time with the female narrator. I did not like the voice she used for Maddie. It was hard for me to continue listening, but I wanted to know what happened and how the story÷ would end. I would get frustrated when certain parts of the story didn't play out (like everything that happened after she left for school). I would have rather been part of the story as it happened and not skipping to years later and the characters mentioning what happened in the past. I love the concept of them being in love from a young age. Grand-mama I think was my favorite character. I like how Pops turned it around. I think there could have been so much more story to tell, but that's what makes me keep reading certain authors...when they leave me wanting more! I think I will continue this series by reading it vs audible.

Not my personal favorite…

I am the sort of person who wants to finish a book when they start it. I read the reviews and expected this one to be exciting, funny, and overall great read/listen. Honestly, there is just way too much filler. So much stuff that drags it out and isn’t necessary for the story to be told. Some doesn’t even relate to the story. It was hard to finish. Also, Maddie is way too dramatic of a female lead for me. I don’t enjoy weak female leads who are over emotional and dramatic… and she is one.

I didn’t enjoy the narration, but I really think that’s because of how the book was written. Their voices were good, I just feel like the story made everything a drag. I also felt like a lot of the reactions to some things that happened in the story were unrealistic.

Just my personal opinion, and I don’t want to be rude. Just not one I would listen to again. Could have been a great book with half as much of the “filler” detail and a less dramatic lead female.

Too good

I loved this story. It has good character development and background. Very heart wrenching in some areas. Found myself holding my breath at a couple points. Very happy with this one.

Love put to the test........

**** May contain triggers*** A love that withstands the test of time and put to the test. This story was an emotional roller coaster ride and will pull at your heartstrings. My heart went out to the two main characters and all they went through! I loved this story and highly recommend it.

amazing story ignore the previous review!

his child hood was tragic, and painful but she is more than the girl next door. she is his light, his world and his everything. if letting her go is the only way to keep her safe while he digs himself out if the shit hole his abusive father put him in then that is what he will do! after spending years apart to protect her, they find their way back in a tragic turn of events

Terrible. Don’t waste your time.

I so wanted this to be good. It’s absolutely terrible.
A heroine who is supposed to manage a women’s shelter for domestic violence victims who has temper tantrums and throws office supplies at men? At the shelter !? You have got to be kidding me.
A heroine who is so meek she is continually on the verge of crying or passing out. Give me a break.
Seems like the heroine has split personality and one is too dumb to live and the other is a psycho.
Also, the women’s voice is very grating. It’s like she’s trying to sound breathy all the time.
I cannot convey how disappointed I am in this book. TERRIBLE.

Do not use your credit

The book is long, like painfully long. I thought it was a slow built but no this story didn’t get any better. The subject matter is heartbreaking. The back story is child abuse that leads to a man turning to violence toward his lover. I wish the book was better.
