Holy jamoly! 💜💜

I love when I read a book that I don’t have very high expectations for, turns out to not only be enjoyable, but to also be really great!! People have left reviews comparing this to Fifty Shades of Grey, and saying that it is a little bit raunchy. However I completely do not agree. There was a little bit of conversation about some of the tying up kind of intimacy events, but though there was a lot of conversation about it, nothing really happened in that arena until the very end and even then it was very very mild. There definitely is a lot of sex, and it is pretty steamy, but what romance novel doesn't have that!? The question is, was it written well, and in this book it was!

The story itself was very good. A somewhat prim and proper, at least on the outside, woman is running a home for orphans with her brother. She has a couple of secrets of her own of course. She meets the damaged man who needs her help finding a murder. Together they complement each other each other‘s issues while solving a mystery. There are two secondary stories, one of which is her sisters, which is obviously a setting for another in this series. Another one is, at the beginning of every chapter is a little mini story, but it is interesting as it plays out. There are a lot of characters that are introduced that will obviously be use for future novels, which thrills me to no end because I can’t wait to continue on with this author and with this series.

The narrator was fine. I didn’t fall in love with her, but I certainly didn’t have any problem with any of her narrating. I’m a pretty picky listener in that regard. I bought this on sale and it was well worth the $4.95. I would have no qualms using a credit on this and in fact I am thrilled to be looking forward to using my credits on the next books in the series.

Good-but Took forever to finish

Looking back, I can usually tell how much I truly enjoyed a book by the length at which it takes me to finish. If i stay up late just to listen a bit more- or can't wait to do laundry or vaccum or any other house hold task just to sneak a listen! This was not one of those books however. I found myself laboring to finish it just so I could move on. While I wanted to know the end..and i wanted to see how things would turn out, I just didn't care at the same time. The characters are only slightly interesting- at best. Plus the narration was only so-so. I won't be re-reading it, nor am I that intrigued to try out any other of Elizabeth Hoyt's books. Sad- because they seem to have such a following too. Just couldn't see what all the hype was about.

Another Enjoyable Hoyt tale

What made the experience of listening to Wicked Intentions the most enjoyable?

Elizabeth Hoyt delivers an enjoyable story with intriguing characters and believable plots. While I sometimes found the hero to be annoying in his inability to withstand touch, the heroine and supporting characters made up for this. I look forward to the rest of these stories.

What did you like best about this story?

The element of intrigue - who is the Ghost of St. Giles, etc.,

Yes it is erotic but what a good story!

This book took me by surprise. The plot was excellent, dialog caused quite a bit of reflection into each character. And the Narrator was wonderful her accents and tones were perfect for each character, especially Lord Caire
Would like to see her do much more books. I will definatly read book two.

This is the start of another great series by Hoyt!

I first read this book in 2010, so I nearly laughed my whatsit off when I noticed a review stating that it was a Grey knockoff (that nonsense was published in 2011). Although Lord Caire chooses to display himself as uncaring, he is wrapped so tight he is winched to the eyeballs and suffers at physical contact with another unless he initiates it himself. Temperance Dewes (her siblings have even odder names) is one who feels unworthy no matter what she does, and refuses to admit to seriously caring for any of the orphans in the Home which she runs with her overworked brother. The two come into contact with each other while he is looking for a murderer in the seedy part of town in which she lives, and it all goes on from there, including a devastating side story regarding one of her sisters.
Also, at the beginning of each chapter, is a short segment of a short morality tale which syncs well with the book's storyline.
The writing is sound and lures the reader onward. Many characters present themselves (this is Book 1 of a series) and are also well defined and complex. If explicit erotica which is less than gratuitous offends the reader, they only have to elide it (it does have a purpose, but is not vital).
I won a copy of the ebook (good! my print was in tatters), then got the audio on sale at Audible.
Ashford McNab gives a wonderful performance with this narration!

A very nice surprise

First time reading/listening to Ms. Hoyt and Ms. MacNab and I must say they did a terrific job both with the story and the narration. Kept me engaged through out. Looking forward to book #2 and book #3. Although I've read other reviews about Ms. Hoyt's other series that weren't as good as these books.
Overall a good choice to spend your credits.

Fifty-One Shades of Wicked

Read from June 16 to July 19, 2012

Who needs Fifty Shades of Grey when there's Wicked Intentions? And unlike this new flash-in-the-pan trend, WI is actually a romance novel in which the physical relationship (which involves light B but no DSM) between the hero and heroine is integral to their character growth and the growth of their relationship. A good story in and of itself, and a good setup for a series.

Good Story

Where does Wicked Intentions rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Somewhere near the middle.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator in my opinion is bad. She reads the book like she is talking to someone who would have a hard time understanding if she spoke to quickly.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

The book was good, I had no problem with the british accent, the narrator read the book way to slow.

Better than expected

This story was deep, set up future stories well and gave us a unique hero.
