Publisher's summary

Life was a whole lot easier when the dead stayed dead.

I thought I was human. Apparently, I was wrong.

I didn't even know there were non-humans. Others, they're called. Fairies, vampires, even the bogeyman - they're all real. At least, that's what the werewolf told me when I saved her from the cops.

Did I mention that I saved a werewolf? And those weren't just cops trying to kill her. They're a deadly cult with the sole purpose of capturing and torturing Others...especially me. Because it turns out I'm not just any Other. I can talk to the dead - and this cult has questions only I can answer. Answers they want to use to wipe out every non-human on the planet.

My name is Gideon Black, and I'm not human. I am the DeathSpeaker.

And I am so screwed.

Awesome story!

What an awesome find! I just got introduced to a whole new world & it’s really engaging. I’m looking forward to reading/listening to the whole series - which, as of this moment is about 9 books total. I can’t wait! 🥰

Horrible narrator

I just downloaded this today and, so far, the story is interesting but the narrator is beyond horrible. If the rest of the series has the same narrator, I think I'll have to pass.

Update: I listened for a while longer and decided I just can't stick with it, I'll be deleting it from my library.

Poorly written tripe.

Another coffin nail in the "if you like dresden files" batch of audible suggestions. This story doesnt deserve mention wirh dresden files save how not to. The characters are just the most flat banal troped out crap. The plot plods along like someone slashed its hamstrings, amd while the narrator puts some effort in, its poorly done and has more ham then the meat section of a grocers before christmas. And its all soured.
