Publisher's summary

Turn on, tune in, and drop-dead! Whispers from the Abyss returns with this best-of audio collection, which brings together some of the best tales published in this long-running Lovecraft-inspired anthology series. Find out why Amazing Stories Magazine described Whispers from the Abyss as HP Lovecraft's "mutant bastard offspring, whose mission is to misbehave dreadfully and have a wonderful time doing so.

These Children of the Night run amok, gleefully trashing the very idea of florid prose and pseudo-intellectual claptrap of which the Great Old One himself was sometimes guilty. Instead, they tear down the walls, splinter the timbers, rip out the wiring and delight in sending to the bottom of the ocean the HMS Lovecraft and all who sail in her.

Contributors include Laird Barron (The Imago Sequence), Orrin Grey (Painted Monsters & Other Strange Beasts), Cody Goodfellow (Spore), J. Ishiro Finney (The Casefile: Arkham series), Greg Stolze (Delta Green), and others.

Full list of authors includes: John Palisano, Konstantine Paradise, Chad Fifer

Good stories but missing many

Great book of lovecraft inspired fiction. However, some of the authors names listed here don’t appear in this audiobook. And when I checked the publishers website for their table of contents, I found this to be missing many stories. Not sure why that is or how this isn’t listed as an abridged audiobook. Tad disappointed now.

Audio Issues and missing stories

Narration is fine and stories are good. Would be 4 stars based on those two criteria.

HOWEVER, there's something wrong with the audio levelling - I had to quit listening to the first story as it sounded like the narrator was rapidly getting closer to and further away from the mic. Additionally, the audiobook only contains a subset of the stories that the title description lists. These issues make it feel like a poorly-executed bait and switch.
