Publisher's summary

Buried on an abandoned estate lies a sinister secret; one that artist Kevan Renee should never uncover. Her past traumas buried deep; she vows she'll never allow childhood memories to taint the new life she's built for herself.

Nathan Hill, haunted by the disappearance of his little sister for over two decades, leads a relentless quest for the truth about what happened to her. His seemingly simple life caring for a cantankerous godmother takes a different turn when he finds clues to his sister’s disappearance.

When Kevan’s beloved Gammie Frances dies, she receives an unexpected inheritance: the long-forgotten property that she and Gammie visited often when she was a child. As Kevan revisits the inherited estate, memories of her childhood resurface, and she realizes that she and her Gammie share a haunting connection to this place. What started out as loving, nostalgic memories with her grandmother quickly shifts to restless nights and chilling nightmares. In the center of it all is a lone, little girl standing beside a still pond.

Intense story but great ending

At first the narrator read a little fast for me, but as the story progressed she really got into reading the story and portrayed the characters well. Like any other novel, the story progressed as it introduced each character and by the time I was a quarter of the way into the book, I didn't want to stop listening. I loved listening to the story from the different views of different characters and the shifting from first person to third person when the story flashed back to the past made you feel as though you were traveling back in time. It was the perfect unraveling as the past and present came together. I highly recommend this book.

Emotional and suspenseful read

A story that spans decades, binding generations of women who had to make difficult decisions in order to survive. The novel is written in first and third person point of view through the eyes of different characters. Where Secrets Stay is a well crafted story that keeps you reading into the night, wondering what will happen next. It blends beautifully descriptive details with a touch of the paranormal and an ending you won't see coming.

Riveting

CherAnn Wright has crafted an amazing story featuring multiple women in a twisted psychological thriller. I found myself unable to stop listening to this book as the plot unfolded with multiple big twists. The narrator gives life to the story through her reading as well.
