Publisher's summary

Panic is one of the most crippling psychological disorders of our time.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Ireland suffer from panic attacks and anxiety, but many struggle to access any meaningful help for these conditions.

Prompted by years of working with patients suffering from panic attacks and struck by just how common and debilitating they were, medical doctor and psychotherapist Dr Áine Tubridy first published When Panic Attacks in 2003. Grounded in years of clinical experience and research, it has been a best seller ever since - because her methods work.

A true visionary in the crusade for mental health, Dr Tubridy uses pioneering mind-body medicine methods to alleviate panic and anxiety, encouraging patients to understand the root cause of their symptoms and to make tangible and fundamental changes at every level of life - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual - opening up the possibility of extensive and permanent healing.

In an increasingly fear-driven society, this book is more relevant than ever.

Quite Helpful, full review here!

I have had panic attacks for years and on a few occasions even called the ambulance because I thought I was dying , I have had all the panic attack symptoms and I read a book by a similar name and it was helpful but a year went by and I forgot everything and they came back and started wreaking havoc on my life , I decided to check this book out and write a review since it’s lacking one

Super helpful , the first few chapters where exactly what I need to hear , I was getting panic attacks a few times a week while at work (on a construction site) since reading this book I haven’t had one.

The narrator is excellent and a has nice calming voice

The book starts on explaining what panic attacks are

Why they happen , and what’s happening when they do

Also explains the faulty thinking and crazy cycle of thoughts that just keep them coming back

Also puts those at ease for those who think they are having heart attacks , brain tumors or who think they are going mad

The book also discourages pharmaceuticals as they mask the symptoms but don’t solve the problem and go into a range of homeopathic treatments

***** I started reading the book and in the beginning they mentioned chakras and I was worried that this book was some new age mumbo jumbo

Also as a traditional practicing catholic I was reluctant to continue but I saw the book had no reviews and I thought what the heck I can check it out and see what it’s about , I’m open to hearing ideas and I can reject them if they contradict reason.

That being said only one chapter was really about chakras and it didn’t really mention it at all in the other chapters,

The chapter on chakras wasn’t even trying to really explain or convince the reader of chakras but other than a general explanation presumed the readers openness to it.

You could have removed that chapter and the book is still great and has tons of great info

It briefly mentions chakras again later while talking about homeopathic treatments but as for me I had everything I needed from the book to equip myself with the tools to stop panic attacks

So if your a Christian and your worried about this book but struggle with panic attacks I still recommend it and just skip the parts that aren’t relevant to you.

All in all
This book was helpful to me and so think it would help others who struggle with panic attacks.

Another book by the same title is also pretty good too.
