Publisher's summary

Aspen Montgomery was nine years old when she befriended Camden Priest—a boy with dead eyes and dark urges. Since that day, they'd been inseparable. She hadn't expected to later develop a major crush on him. Or expected that the crush would fail to pass. Or ever thought that she'd grow to wish that she could one day claim him as her mate. It's never going to happen. She knows that. To him, she's a friend, nothing more. So it's time to make some changes to establish some better boundaries. Which would be a hell of a lot easier if he didn't fight her on it.

There is only one person in the world who Camden Priest gives a damn about—Aspen. She's his best friend, his anchor, his conscience, the very reason he's sane. There's only one secret he ever kept from her...he wants more than friendship. Knowing she doesn't feel the same, he put a chokehold on his need for her. But when some asshole claims to be Aspen's true mate and danger starts closing in on her, Camden's control becomes precarious and platonic lines are crossed. He knows what he should do—leave it at a one-night stand to protect their friendship. He's just not so sure he can.

Contains mature themes.

Wonderful ShifterRomance

As usual Suzanne Wright has a shifter romance that keeps me listening. Worth a credit.

When He' Sinful is sinfully delicious

I finished this 11 hour book in one day.. I could not force myself to stop. Loved every word of it! I wish Suzanne Wright could write with both hands at once, so we could read twice as much of her work.

Series best (so far)

You’d think these books would be getting old. Suzanne Wright has a a couple of formulas for her shifter novels, and this one follows along with many of the others. So you’d think it would be boring. Only…

ITS NOT!! HOLY HOTNESS ITS NOT!

I thought this one might be awkward: a bi H who seems more attracted to men then women and an h who’s always been in love with her best friend - Mr. H. But man, this is just done so very very well.

Suzanne doesn’t just skirt around the topic of the H’s sexuality: she actually discusses it at multiple points. It’s natural and it’s just so awesome to see an author embrace the discussion earnestly but without making a big deal about it (it isn’t a main plot point, it’s just there). The relationship between H and h is the most natural so far in all of her novels and feels intensely real. Not to mention the story line is intriguing, fun, and full of actual questions that take a while to answer.

I love how despite being over a dozen books into her overall larger shifter world, Suzanne can keep the books fresh. This one is still one of the best, with real love between the characters built off something beyond just initial physical attraction. There’s such history here, and it’s so captivating.

Overall, 5/5 in all the best ways. Plus the heat…oh man. The heat.

Another good Shifter book

Suzanne Wright it’s one of my favorite shifter authors! I loved the earliest Pack series. This series is OK but not my favorites. I feel they spent too long carrying on about how they were “just friends” And we’re afraid to cross the line in fear of losing their friendship. I was at the point where I was thinking “this is a waste of precious story time!” I was also turned off by the constant “you belong to me, and what’s left of you after that you can have.” I know all of the shifter books this is a prominent theme, but I think it is often too extreme! I like Susan’s books a lot and feel that they offer call mom sexuality. But I’m finding lately that that attitude has been goning too far for my liking anyway. As you see I still rank her five stars in all categories.

Friends to Mates

Aspen and Camden have been friends for years. She has always been his calm and the light to his darkness. They are both protective and possessive of each other but have kept their feelings for each other secret. Each trying to be with other people while really wishing it was each other. Aspen has been having someone stalking her and attacking her through the internet. While Camden's old pride is having someone cause destruction on their land. When the two situations end up being caused by the same person things get more intense. Together they try and figure out what is going on and, in this time, they find each other trying to be together as more then friends, this book is a little slower paced as these two have a hard time figure out that they are true mates. I still really enjoyed it and loved how fierce these two are for each other. I can't wait for Bailey's book.

Great story

I'm really loving the deviation from damsel in distress and near death experiences! Aspen can hold her own and Camden isn't over bearing by making her stay behind. She can hold her own and he knows it. I'm also really happy that it isn't the jealous ex lover plotting their downfall or helping the true villain get to them. I loved how they were both afraid the other didn't see them the way they did and how surprised they bothnwere to find out how much they loved each other and wanted to try mating. Great story and Samantha Cook does a great job narrating.

Love the series

It is the second time listening to this series and I always enjoy it. Though I find the amount of sexual time a bit much, and it seems a bit repetitive throughout the series, so I typically skip past them - though I am not surprised to see that aspens true mate was with her the entire time, but odd that they didnt notice it until like years and years after
