Publisher's summary

After a confession of murder, a sleuthing English teacher will need a Christmas miracle to prove a condemned man innocent.

Colorful Christmas lights dapple the family homes in the idyllic lakeside town of Sweet Haven when Jennifer Dean, a young librarian at the local elementary school, is brutally murdered. There are witnesses and her boyfriend Travis Blake confesses to the crime...but something doesn't quite add up. Blake is a third generation Army Ranger, awarded the Silver Star for his heroism in Afghanistan - how could a beloved son of this tight-knit burgh commit such a grisly deed?

As a community of military families a few miles down the road from an Army base, no one in Sweet Haven wants to investigate a war hero like Blake, not even the top brass at the police department. In steps Cameron Winter, a rugged and lonesome English professor haunted by the ghosts of his own Christmas past, whose former lover asks him to prove Blake innocent. The Sweet Haven murder reverberates in his mind, echoing a horrific yuletide memory from his youth, and Winter knows there are darker powers at play here than a simple domestic dispute. If he can solve this small-town mystery, just maybe he can find peace from his inner demons as well.

Brilliant.

Read the “Great Good Thing”, Only then, can you appreciate Mr. Klavan’s joyful, dark, and faithful soul. When Christmas Comes, I believe, is the beginning of a great franchise. Just ordered the newest book in the series, “A Strange Habit of Mind”. Can. Not. Wait.

Klavan is a genius writer....

This story was so beautifully written and engaging from beginning to end, and I love the protagonist Winter. This story drew me on from the beginning and hooked me to finish it faster then any audiobook I have listened to in recent years. Just a wonderful bittersweet mystery that is a feat of storytelling.... I absolutely loved it and want to hear more from the saga of Cam Winter. Also,, Adam Barr as a narrator was absolutely brilliant. Long live the Klavan! More please!

Solid mystery, great writing

A number of the details of the mystery are not too hard to figure out, but the characterization, descriptions and other use of language was great, interesting phrases, but not too long.

very well written

this was the first audible book that I've ever bought and I have to say I am not disappointed! the story itself was filled with twists and turns that brought you everywhere and then at the end directed you right to the point. what made this book even better is it had a very distinct Christmas spirit for suspense crime novel and really want to break out the hot chocolate and sit by the fire while listening to this great story. I've listened to Andrew clavens dialogue and love his work on the daily wire but I've seen another side of this man's words and really enjoyed it. I would absolutely recommend this book.

A True Mystery

Listening to this book I did struggle to get into it right away. But then it grabs your attention and you can put it down. The story will make you think and want to predict what will happen. It definitely keeps you guessing till the end.
I do hope this turns into a series and I can’t wait to read them all.

A Great Book

I found this title to be extremely entertaining. I have a long commute and I often switch between audio books and music because the audio books put me to sleep after about half an hour. In this case, it was different. I enjoyed listening for hours at a time through featureless terrain. The story was great and the narration good - although it was a tad slow and I upped it to 1.2x - which was perfect for me. I also liked how Mr. Klavan intertwined the protagonist's past and present into one another to enhance the story and show how the protagonist's history impacted his present situation. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery or a good character-driven story.
