Publisher's summary

The vampire hunter known only as D has been hired by a wealthy, dying man to find his daughter, who was kidnapped by the powerful vampire Lord Mayerling. Though humans speak well of Mayerling, the price on his head is too high for D to ignore and he sets out to save her before she can be turned into an undead creature of the night.

In the nightmare world of 12,090 A.D., finding Mayerling before he reaches the spaceport in the Clayborn States and gets off the planet will be hard enough, but D has more than just Mayerling to worry about. The dying man is taking no chances, and has also enlisted the Marcus family, a renegade clan of four brothers and a sister who don't care who they kill as long as they get paid. A post-apocalyptic plot, filled with chilling twists.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music! Performed by Scott McCormick, David Cui Cui, Yasmin Tuazon, James Konicek, Henry W. Kramer, Holly Adams, Danny Gavigan, Carolyn Kashner, Torian Brackett, Eric Messner, Terence Aselford, Christopher Walker, Dylan Lynch, Zeke Alton, Michael John Casey, Matthew Bassett and Chris Davenport.

Still a great book

The narration of the book, along with the voice acting and timing is incredible. The music goes along well when introducing the mysterious youth with the black cape and the long brimmed hat. However I did notice a pattern from the 3 books, something or someone will get D to either lose the fight in a bad way. Like in WWE where the “face” gets ambushed or somehow gets KO’d laying in the ring while the “heel” gloats. Then come backs later in the story to settle it. Seems like at least from book 3, he doesn’t just walk out with a draw. It’s still a good story though, even if I knew how the story would end by the way these types of tales are told.

I still recommend it.

Amazing!

I’ve always loved Vampire Hunter D but this is VHD on steroids. I will be purchasing every VHD title that comes out as I was told by graphic audio they will be doing ALL of them.

My only advice is to buy it directly from GraphicAudio.net only because they will get the full price of the purchase and keep pumping them out. Audible’s 365 day return policy isn’t friendly to authors.

One of Kikuchi's Best

this is one of kikuchi's best novels and was even turned in to the second vampire Hunter D film. the characters are excellent the villains are ambiguous and he finds friends and unexpected places. excellent book worth the read and definitely worth a listen. the cast gives a fantastic performance, 10 out of 10.

Futuristic Romeo and Juliet mixed with horror

Obviously the anime deviates allot from book but for a good reason. The story has some intense and graphic situations that got me cringing. One part that I like was when Layla was all, wTF is that on your left palm lol and D just moves on. Such bad ass. Will listen to all of these and see that they are getting progressively better in production. Will watch Bloodlust to cleanse my palete.
