Publisher's summary

It takes one little spark for enemies to ignite into lovers in a searing-hot novel by USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Blackwood.

Sloane Garcia has butted heads with Reece Jenkins ever since he was a colossal jerk of epic proportions on a night she’d rather forget. So what if he’s overconfident, ultramasculine, and hard muscled? When she finds out he’s on the auction block at the annual firefighter’s charity event, she decides to give this cocky firefighter a dose of his own medicine. Now that she’s won the hunk, he’s on call - to do whatever Sloane wants.

Sure, Reece and Sloane had a rocky start, but he had his reasons. None of that matters now that he’s the bachelor at her beck and call, tasked with granting her four wishes in four weeks. He runs into burning buildings for a living, but nothing will be as tough as dousing the flames Sloane ignites in him. What started out as just a game might end up with Reece losing the one thing he swore he’d never give up: his heart.

Cute story!

I enjoyed this friends-to-enemies-to lovers story. Reese and Sloane were quite a pair sniping at each other and when they found their common ground again, it was a nice slow burn. Peaches and her Blake Shelton aversion had me in stitches! I would have liked a resolution to the arson mystery, but perhaps that is a thread that the author wove throughout the series. This is my first book by this author so I don’t know if she continues it in another book.

Christian Fox and Carly Robins did a great job narrating this story. I love both of their voices and they were fantastic as Reese and Sloane!

Love!!!!

I love this book. It’s funny, it’s sweet. I absolutely love the back and forth between Reece and Sloane.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the male narrator. It seems like he kind of talks quieter and almost whispers at times and I’d have to constantly adjust my volume, which could get annoying.

holy peaches and Blake Shelton 🤣

Reece & Sloane: an enemies to lovers romance. Sloane is his sister's best friend who he's always had a thing for but also avoided. Sloane has also had a thing for her best friend brother and after one night if drinking alone she tells him. that doesn't go well and from then on, they are mortal enemies trading insults left and right. until a firefighter auction has they getting closer. it's a good book, had funny moments but is sort of a slow burn. it's really enjoyable.

My Thoughts on Flirting with Fire

This best friend's little sister romance was a really good read. It was also a single parent story which I love. Jake seemed like a good dad and I absolutely respected how he made caring for his daughter his top priority. That's the kind of guy you can't help falling for. So I absolutely couldn't blame Erin for doing it. I also couldn't blame her for the struggle and indecision she went through trying to decide what to do when it came to balancing her career with matters of the heart.

I listened to and read this book and found that while narrator Dara Rosenberg did a good job, I also was looking for a bit more. More variation in the different character tones. More focus on really distinguishing her male from female voice. Luckily the style this book was written in helped with making it a better experience overall, but I still think this book would have been a better listening experience with either a male narrator reading Jake's POV, or just more distinction from this narrator.

Frenemies to lovers story w hot firefighter!

Reece is in a boatload of trouble with his fire chief, especially after he was shot on a call, and it appears that he did not exactly follow procedure. He doesn't have a choice but to participate in the annual 4x4 auction...four chores in 4 wks. Sloane is the best friend of Reece's sister and has always enjoyed her verbal sparring with Reece...until one night several months ago. Reece had taken Sloane home after she had a bit too much to drink and he rejected her advances. Now Sloane has taken the sparring to new heights by bidding for and winning Reece at the auction. Sloane has to come up with 4 chores that will torture Reece, oh and then she has to report back to the chief. Will Sloane and Reece call a truce and become friends during this time or will Sloane's antics push Reece away? There's a cute little dog in the mix...who wears a tiara and gem-studded outfits and runs from pictures of Blake Shelton! Love the camaraderie between Sloane, Reece's sister and their other bff, Madison; also between Reece and his fire crew. There is an underlying mystery with a serial arsonist and, I'm hoping, more will be revealed in coming books. Yes, I am really looking forward to more books in this series. Great job by the narration team.
