Publisher's summary

The instant Sunday Times best seller

"An intelligent, thorough rejoinder to an idea that has swept across much of the liberal world seemingly overnight. Even those outraged by Joyce’s positions would benefit from understanding them.... Open conversation about such fraught issues is the only realistic path forward." (Jesse Singal, The New York Times)

"This rigorous and brave book nails the absurd idea that sex is just a 'social construct'." (David Aaronovitch, The Times)

Gender identity ideology is about more than Twitter storms and using the right pronouns. In just 10 years, laws, company policies, school and university curricula, sport, medical protocols, and the media have been reshaped to privilege self-declared gender identity over biological sex.

People are being shamed and silenced for attempting to understand the consequences of redefining "man" and "woman". While compassion for transgender lives is well-intentioned, it is stifling much-needed inquiry into the significance of our bodies.

If we recommit to our liberal values of freedom of belief, freedom of speech, and robust debate, we scan de-escalate this most vicious of culture wars.

excellent and so very needed

A thoughtful, thorough, and logical appeal for a sane response to a radical idea. This book needs to be read by anyone who is confused by what "trans" even means. I suspect the majority of individuals are unaware of how gender identity ideology has infiltrated so many aspects of society and what consequences are sure to come as a result. Educators and legislators in particular need clarity about this subject before an irreversible embrace of harmful ideas does severe damage to the most vulnerable people in the world: women and children.

A Must Read

The researched information in this book is profound. Most people are naive about the subject of sex self identification. Dr. Joyce has done the deepest dive into the reality of sex any gives one scientific insight that is unbiased and revealing. If you care about women’s protected spaces you owe it to yourself to be well informed and you will be after this read.

Gift of compassion every misogynist can use.

The kindness is weakness (so be a good little girl, just sit down and shut up otherwise there will be consequences) klan will never read this because they're too busy with the extremely privileged victim stance that handed them power which they use to not just vilify women still very rarely given a good or healthy choice (obviously), for the actions of those exactly like them. Triggered by a narcissist attempting sell sex through deception is somehow Mommies fault. Can't vilify Daddy, he's the one with money!

Misogynists are giddy over how this harms women but if activists do succeed in legalizing prostitution for more havens (everyone needs a safe space except for girls, of course) at the expense and disregard of reasonable people, most guys are NOT going to enjoy losing a game to play. Females exhausted from carrying their own weight, creating life, and being used for sex by males might sleep better if they simply stopped searching for a true "I'm not like other guys" fantasy and just charge by the minute. Suppose guys no longer care about their beloved "men's rights movement", now they can identify into oppression and sue. Who cares if there are other options and females are uncomfortable, it's time to squeeze one off.

Anyhow, if you buy this book for someone, talk with them about it. "The other side" is not interested in conversation, they want to maintain control. If they're going to continue to be virtue signaling vultures, at least make sure that they have to exist with their conscious. Right now they like to believe people can't see them behind the mask of "I am the ultimate victim" (to be handed such power and privilege, the oppression of females was of course their fault, they should have announced neo pronouns) or "I'm just better than you, Evil Bigot.". Enabling fuels their ego and they've got their hands all over children.

A book for now

Thoroughly researched and compassionately argued. Gender self identity and its consequences needs to be understood- this book unpacks it.

Timely

a book that unapologetically lays out the dynamics of the cultural struggles and issues cropping up as human community seeks to grow together in a rapidly changing world. Read this if you're seeking clarification on hot button issues facing humanity.

Excellently done

Not only is she thorough in her research and arguments but isn’t a firebrand and doesn’t rely on ideology to make her points. In the end, facts and reality will win out and she has done her part in that.

Excellent listen

Helen Joyce is one if the most rational and clearly spoken people I’ve ever heard speak on topic of gender ideology. Really well researched and written. It lays out clearly how we got where we are now and what everyone should know about this subject.

Face It, The Truth Hurts

A must read for anyone questioning the morality of the trans dogma. Only the truth will save us from the insanity of the far Left. Read it and pass it on.
