From Heather Morris, the New York Times best-selling author of the multimillion-copy best seller The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Cilka's Journey: a story of family, courage, and resilience, inspired by a true story.

Against all odds, three Slovakian sisters have survived years of imprisonment in the most notorious death camp in Nazi Germany: Auschwitz. Livia, Magda, and Cibi have clung together, nearly died from starvation and overwork, and the brutal whims of the guards in this place of horror. But now, the allies are closing in and the sisters have one last hurdle to face: the death march from Auschwitz, as the Nazis try to erase any evidence of the prisoners held there. Due to a last minute stroke of luck, the three of them are able to escape formation and hide in the woods for days before being rescued.

And this is where the story begins. From there, the three sisters travel to Israel, to their new home, but the battle for freedom takes on new forms. Livia, Magda, and Cibi must face the ghosts of their past - and some secrets that they have kept from each other - to find true peace and happiness.

Inspired by a true story, and with events that overlap with those of Lale, Gita, and Cilka, The Three Sisters will hold a place in listeners' hearts and minds as they experience what true courage really is.

Beautiful

While this story has terribly sad moments, it is part of history. It is written beautifully. Great listen/read.

Loved the first 3/4

Loved the details and story in the beginning. The last portion seemed to move too quickly and not develop the stories as much as they were in the front end. Wanted more like the beginning and amazingness. These sisters are a testament to love and grace in the face of horror.

love this Author

I have 2 sisters so the title caught me first. then the story made me hope that me and my sisters would never have to suffer like these sisters. But if we did we are in it together!

Wow!

one of the most personal and moving stories of a horrendous time in the world. Perfectly presented in all its frank, introspective and raw words.

Amazingly recounted

While it feels weird to call such a tragedy amazing, this book was wonderful. Send very grateful for these sisters retelling their story.

Tragic

How tragic is our history of a place that some still claim never happened. This book took me into that camp, into that life and into the horror and tragic experiences. So much loss. Heartbreaking, thank you to the author and the grandchildren of these sisters that help to bring this story to fruition. Narrator fantastic.

Totally moved by this….

Having lived in Germany in 1974 and visiting Dachau, I am so touched by the stories of survivors of the Holocaust! I feel like I personally know these 3 sisters. Having 5 sisters of my own, I honor the bonds of these 3! Highly recommend!

Good story

loved this 3rd book in the series. The narration was good, but after a while the narration for the youngest sister was so whiney/annoying I could only listen in small amounts of time

Riveting, Heartbreaking

Yet, somehow hopeful? Perhaps it’s the bond of family, the rare but still there kindness of strangers, and the will to survive. Recommend with the caveat that there are triggers related to family separation, violence, and other trauma.
